I remembered met a deaf lady from training school. I think she's around 27 yrs old. She got gout. She says it was painful in her big toe. I felt bad for her because she barely walk. Gout is for older people but for young people is rarely. A friend of mine recently got arthritis from hands. Go see a doctor if you have arthritis or gout condition.

What you might not know about this, any of this may relate to you.

I'm almost 40. I have a dysplastic hip and arthritis. So, yeah, I know pain.

We also have a family friend who has gout. Very painful condition!

By the way, some of them may not know about gout condition. This is why I want to post this thread. Yeah, you're aware of arthritis and some others too but not gout and different kind of arthritis from the list. People don't really talk about gout.

This thread is to help Ddeaf/Hhoh people to understand about gout because it is serious painful.

My mom have an arthritis. She is 60 years old now. She started get it when she was 40's. She had an arthritis surgery on her hands and big toes to put a new joints. It's painful! She have an arthritis on her fingers, thumbs and neck now. That's suck! She will get a surgery on her other toe soon. She got it from wear too much high heel shoes when she was young adult. She is an artist and doing painting and cosmetic for many years. My grandma had an arthritis on her knees and big toes and toes. That's why I don't want to wear a high heel shoes everyday. If I wear a high heel shoes. It will kill my lower back and arches on feet.

Hi dd3,

Interesting. you got gout in your mid 20's. I'm curious, when you got gout, were you on medication from your doctor or did ur doctor tells you what to avoid foods that u can't eat because of gout. What cause you by gout? Are you now gout free? Thanks for your brave :)

hi meyag

too much vitamin C building up
try to cut back and it will be more less

Hi Mf,

what cause your dad by gout? I ask same question to DD3. Thank you.

Vitamin C is water soluble; you can't have too much of it. It's just gonna be washed out of the body.

My gout started in my mid 20's due to my abnormally high consumption of red meats (as evident by my current weight). I did cut back drastically, but I still have attacks periodically. I went to the doctor for pain in big toe and he inserted a syringe into the joint of the toe and pulled fluid. The fluid was examined and abnormal levels of uric acid were found, confirming Gout. Allopurinol was prescribed, but that didn't help much.

Best to discuss what I CANNOT eat. For someone with gout, organ meats and red meats are definitely out of the question. I have heard some people say that red wine can irritate gout, but I have never confirmed that nor do I find that my gout flares when I drink red wine. There may be other foods that are not recommended, but I am only aware of the two mentioned above.

Oh okay, I understood. That I didn't know about red wine that can irritate gout. Interesting. I'm going to research what not to eat foods for gout. Thanks again for sharing with us.
