Hello, Just curious anyone lives in New Mexico? I am from Thailand and currently live in Hawaii for a long time. My husband just got a new job and we will move to the mainland soon. We will live in New Mexico. I want to make some deaf friend that live in New Mexico and improve my ASL or give me any advise about deaf community or anything else. It would be great for me to learn new thing. If anyone is interested making friend with me, I will be happy then.

Aloha

Last time, I visited New Mexico in 4 years ago.
Some of my old friends from New Mexico. Larger deaf community in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
Deaf School at Santa Fe.

That's too bad I will not live in the big city like Santa Fe and Albuquerque. I will live in southern of New Mexico.

New Mexico have poor deaf social. I tried to get set for deaf social. But noooo. :(

I had some old friends from New Mexico. I met them in Seattle and Rochester, NY.
Most New Mexico deaf people are fine. At RIT, I had date with mexican/american girl from New Mexico.

NM School for the Deaf's Superintendent Ronald J. Stern was candid for President of Gallaudent. Lot people expected to see Ron Stern and other 2 candid became president of Gally. Jordon Kings picked Jane K. Fernandes.

So you are planning to move to the mainland into New Mexico, USA. My family with my son along with my three granddaughters, my two nieces and one nephew all live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and my sister with her husband (hailed from Chicago, Illinois) live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I used to live there. I have not seen or visit Las Cruces ( not sure of the spelling right) and yes it is south of New Mexico when I was living in Albuquerque. I think living in the desert can be hot than in the north of New Mexico. You have to remember to drink lots of cold water as much as you can remember to drink the water. Otherwise you will get dehydrated if you are not getting enough water. The Land of Enchantment is really beautiful and we have lots of Adobe houses that can keep cool in the summer and keep warm in the winter. I think you both will love living in New Mexico. We do have lots of Deaf people both in Albuquerque and Santa Fe (indeed does have Deaf School). I don't know about Las Cruces in finding Deaf people there. I guess you will have to find some at the New Mexico Rehabilitation or New Mexico Hearing Society if they have it there. But first get use to the environment and enjoy your new surroundings. I wish you good luck in moving to the mainland United States. Love to chat more, but see you around.

Santa Fe is most beautiful place to live but expensive. They have lot Fine Arts & Crafts. You will won't believe to see price at Fine Arts & Crafts.

I noticed that Albuquerque's hotel is ecomony better than Santa Fe.

My son took Summer Science Program in Soccoro, NM (NM Inst of Tech). I visited my son at Summer Science Program for two days.

I have been to Santa Fe and Alburkerkee (dammit don't ask me to spell it, I know theres a Q in there somewere but dont know where)

We saw the old Spanish Missions and went to an American Indian marketplace.

i never went there for vacation but its very beautiful and my mom got refunds for more good reasons because not enough money.

mostly mexican people who lives there for longtimes as natives they wont moves its hard!

Next Year 2012, will move to Albuquerque, NM. from Chicago, IL. Because I need low or average taxes on purchase products and better health issues

I do not care deaf people has poor communication in their community as same as foreigners speak spanish or chinese any lanugages. Not their faults !!!

My point is attracting beauty and art culture of Indian and Spanish and living east near mountain, I want to do better in my life and my family and career.

Any questions, what do you think so about NM ?

Additional, I visited my family in Albuquerque since 1990's. Good time ! Very friendly and enjoying long vacation.

I have a place in Ruidoso. Las Cruces is growing, it's not a bad small town. It's a college town mostly

Lived in Alamogordo for several years. Nice, small town of about 35,000. Great place to live if you like the desert beauty at the 4200 ft elevation level. Not too far from Las Cruces, about 45 minute drive west where you can enjoy driving through White Sands and across the desert floor at 80 mph. Ruidoso is a nice mountain community at about the 6300 feet elevation level. Worked there in the mountains and the field. There's a casino place (Inn of the Mountain Gods). Nice casino place and good food, too. There is a nearby and very popular horse race track where you can bet over there (never went there...not my thing). And then you have Cloudcroft, a much smaller mountain community nestled high up on the Sacramento mountains at about 8500 feet elevation level. Nice country up there. I worked there, too, in the fields and mountain as part of my work. In fact there are a few city cams if you're interested in seeing.
