Anyone know how to evict a roommate?

Ive never been in this type of situation but my course of action would be to invite the landlord over to the house in its current state, do not clean your roomates mess! This way the landlord can see in person what your living conditions are like and they will realize that it is more than just a silly squabble. Don't bring up the relationship he said/she said stuff. Landlords are not interested in that. They want to know if anyone has been stealing your personal items, not helping with their share of the housework, not paying the rent, or engaging in illegal activities at the residence. If any of this is going on, bring it up, document excessively and get legal copies of everything.

Next time I would interview your roomates personally instead of letting the landlord do it. Your having to put up with the roomate on a daily basis, the landlord is not if he/she is not living in the residence with you.

The person is on the same lease as me and shes paying rent. however, she has taken advantage of my friend who was drunk- took advatage of my brother (at most TRIED, i put my foot down immediantly and she flipped out defending "their relationship" me bro wanted NOTHING more than friendship) whilst she was going out with my good friend, stole my plates, bowls, and a book (police report made) and she leaves her old dishes and food out to sit and rot and mold and wont listen when i tell her to please clean. She has obnoxious friends over constantly and one of them assualted my boyfriend who is also a paying tenent. I live in michigan and my landlord refuses do it anything claiming it to me a "silly squabble" but I swear this girl is manic depressive and is wronging me left and right. what do I do?!

please help!

Get a restraining order on your roommate. That will get her out of the apartment, even if she is on the lease and paying rent. The judge in court who grants the restraining order has more power than a landlord, and can evict your roommate.

Move yourself out, and let your roommate screw up and damage his/her credit of record.

I would agree with him... just pack and walk out if you didn't sign your name yet. If you are the primary.. better not.. but if you are not primary and nothing your name on it. Just step out...

Same with me. I am currently living with roommate and my name not even on a lease. I could walk out but I choose to stay to help my roommate until their lease expire!

restraining order is not easy to issue. for this case - it's not a qualifying cause for restraining order. Judge will say - "sorry. suck it up and deal with it"

I'm curious to know what the update is on this situation before I chime in with my opinion.

like what Naisho said long while back - people pop in... writes few things.. read few things.... and disappear for good. :dunno:

Since you guys signed the lease, there's nothing you guys can do but I don't know your side of the story or your roommate's story so there's nothing I can do to help you but contact your landlord or the housing council or whatever works for you. I have had 2 bad roommates and they will do anything to screw people up, so watch out.
