Hey...I just realised no one has mentioned Vegemite. It's a yeast vitamin b extract spread. Very salty, but yummy! :) Australian spread!
Remmy Javapride? U tried that when Andy came to visit me??? Hehehehe...I remember you don't like it!

You can go to http://www.vegemite.com.au for more information on this fantastic spread!

FYI- it can be found in a few places in USA. Health food shops or very small little known shops. Just have to really look around for it. :)

Yum, that's my fave spread on toast and sandwiches. Most Australians grew up with Vegemite and of course, they love it, so does their kids and grandkids etcetcera.

Of course, you need an acquired taste to like this as Purple Rose1971 does!

So, for any of you who's coming to Australia anytime this year or for the Deaflympics 2005, remind P.R.1971 and myself to feed you Vegemite. ;)

Believe me, we'll derive much enjoyment of watching your expressions once you have taken a bite. :D

Heheh! It was love at first taste when DH brought a small jar of it to the States when he flew over to visit with me. :D

I've heard of Vegemite several years ago, although, I'm surprised to not see it around here in the states when it's popular in the Land Down Under and I sure as heck be willing to take a swipe of it and spread it on...toast? No no...no one is allowed to be holding a camera when I take the first darn bite!! :squint:

You could try the local health shop -- any small food stores -- they may have Vegemite in stock. :)

Tweetybird....it will make you hearing ! LOL!

someone mentioned it once -- never tried it and if opportunity came i would try it LOL and i can see if i like it or not hehe

I do eat Vegemite sometimes - they are good, not something I want to eat all the times. I usually get some when I drive (or ride on bus) to Norcross, Ga., but I will get some only when I run out of my favourite shaving kit imported from Great Britain. You could try contacting your regional Australian Embassy (or British Embassy) and ask them if they would tell you where you could find places (in your area or state) that have items from Australia or anywhere in Europe, they usually have all information ready for anyone who asked for it. This is how I got information from the Atlanta office of the Australian Embassy!

Sounds grozz to me....salty? ugh! is it fattening?
what the dickens do you put it on? crackers? or what?

Oh Purplerose..Ive been wanting to ask you this since you live in Australia.....
do you eat them kangaroos?...If so, are they good? *shudders*............
:ugh:

 Yeah, I have had kangaroo meat before -- they're actually quite good -- very tender and juicy. ;)

As for the vegemite -- it's a spread so it's put on toast, crackers and put cheese on it, yummy! :)

It can be used with eggs as well -- be creative with it -- it adds some flavour to some dishes. ;)
The Vegemite site has some recipes you can look up and see for yourself.

ahhhh PurpleRose, you make me want to head to the British shop in downtown and grab a jar of Vegemite!

:ugh: *shrudders* eating kangaroo meat qq

*feels bad for the kangaroos!* i think theyre bootiful creatures!
