Is anybody mad or disappointed that they never have closed caption or english subtitles in special features in DVD movies? I am, I mean, some deaf people would want to see what is in special features like interviews and all that, I don't think I ever saw a special feature with english subtitles or closed caption except for I think Saving Private Ryan or Cast Away, I don't remember, either one. I wish they will add english subtitles or closed caption in special features and I wish that I could send a complaint about it.


Thoughts?
 
Yes, I've been mad couple of times. I thought about suing those movie companies for claiming that the movie has subtitles or CC but only the movie has been CC or subtitles. :/

It'll really be pointless.

I've always wanted to watch those interviews or what directors say. :/
 
It's happened to most of times, but only few movies done that like Emeny at the gates.
 
Yeah, lets go form a group and complain about about no english subtitles and closed caption and make picket signs and walk around in front of the DVD industry until the owner says "ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, WE WILL PUT ENGLISH SUBTITLES IN SPECIAL FEATURES FROM NOW ON!!"

Paramount, they are to be one of the most trusted DVD developers when it comes to special features.

DreamWorks, it could be trusted too as well. But most of Steven Spielberg DVDs are captioned which is something pretty cool.
 
Ummm, people, never heard of using Closed Caption on dvd instead of using subtitle....?

Your dvd player must be screwed up.

I had a dvd player which would never play CC on dvd movies until one day I decided to test my Xbox to see if it would play DVD movies. To my surprise a movie I thought that didn't have CC (but only subtitles) had CC because my TV had CC enabled.

Ever since, I watched all DVD movies on my Xbox and watched VCD/SVCD on my dvd player. :D

That's because the signal for the CC would get blocked. I think it occur the most in progressive DVD players.
 
My DVD player work fine, show almost every movie with CC. But I prefer subtitle because of cool tranparent than rather have black block.

I recently rent movie: Old School, in special features, it have ALL subtitle available. :thumb:
 
Oh sure there been times when I've been pissed as fuck that it seems that deaf impaired peeps don't give a crap about hearing impaired peeps

That EXACTLY happened to me! sure i have about 4 DVDs in my house...the one in the living room...the one in the den...the one in my parents' room and the two in my room (PS2/Xbox) so the DVDs outside of my room ALWAYS need to be subtitled but when I play the DVDs on my Playstation 2 or Xbox, it just gets capitoned...I don't understand why it wouldn't work on a regular DVD player...

This website is specifically designed to collect subtitling information on DVD titles. Currently it only covers Region 2 (UK) titles but will very soon be expanded to include Region 1 (US) titles.

hey everyone thought you would like to know, on the tv's in my home we have close captioming , with this i can watch movies w/my vcr's and have everything close captioned. i don't know about dvd players, i'm what you would call old school. but w/close cap :smoking: :ty: :cheers: :wave: tion on the tv's we have 3 i can watch and read the trailors and director interviews. it's great because w'this my family and i can watch a movie together. remember i just became totally deaf {90%} anyway last summer. just thought someone would like to know info. ps. if you have the close captioning set on tv when you turn on vcr the program automatically enables the movie in the vcr. we found this out accidently when my daughter put a movie in vcr after i was watching the news.
 
yes something needs to be done about this issiue. although i have seen one dvd and i was able to get the subtitles for the speacil fea.. i don't remember what movie it was .but it was here recent , but it gets to me as well as far along as tec. has gotten to . and we deafies can't read what the damm directors saying .i wounder what would happen if someone made a movie mainstream you know like with all the good actors and actresses in it and it was all in sing language. and no other opption . i bet there would be something done about that . hah goerge'y bush ..
