Block the dial-up phone calls from interrupting the internet? A friend of mine keeps getting booted and thinks people are calling and disconnecting the phone. Need Help!

She might have call waiting, which mean if she is on line, and someone calls she can get booted off the computer, It had happened to me before so I canceled call waiting never had a problem since then. ;)

I have dail up, and before I used to get booted off alot of times, I mean a whole lot  I thought it was from getting interrupted by other callers who tried to call my house, but MSN told me that I had to download the Outlook Express so that way it keeps the computer running and it won't discounnted or booted off....Try and see if that works and let me know...

She doesn't have call waiting.. i just asked her.. hmm wondered what the problem is..

What Internet software is she using now? AOL, MSN, Yahoo?

What does it say when she is booted off the computer is there a message shown on her screen what cause the booted off?

Rebelgirl is ignoring my post *sobbing*.....*walking away quietly*

I guess what ^Angel^ is suggesting to try is something that her own ISP (internet service provider) recommended to her and since doing so which tremendously helped keep her online regardless if calls were being made to the same line she was using for her computer. What she is suggesting here is to launch Outlook Express and click on the Send/Recv located on top of Outlook Express and once it checks off and completes the task, simply minimize Outlook Express, doing so, this should be able to allow the user to run his/her computer more proficiently and without being disrupted due to calls being made to the phone line for which the computer also runs off on. Give it a try and let us know how that goes-- ;)

If she has American on line, there should be a message on top of her sign off when she is booted off the computer, I have AOL too, My first question is what type of version is she using now? 9.0? How did she updated her verison on line website or from a CD? ;)
