Hello!
Any one who have experenice who live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina? Can you tell me abt weather all year around, cost living , etc.
Thank You!

One word....Hurricanes. Forget about living there. :)

I never lived in Myrtle Beach but I have visited there. It is a beautiful beach area. I live 100 miles southwest of there, so our weather is similar. The summers are hot and humid. The winters are cool, not cold. It almost never snows. Springtime is early, short, and pretty. There is almost no autumn time.

This site has some of the info you might want:

There is a risk of hurricanes. There is more risk in MB than the Charleston area (where I live) because MB is closer to North Carolina's Outer Banks. However, we haven't had a direct strong hurricane hit in several years, and this area is very well prepared. All newer buildings follow stricter construction codes to be safer in hurricanes.

I will going to Myrtle Beach, NC in summer with the girls who we all rent a house for a week. Two girls will deposit the money and we (the rest of the girls) will pay two girls later. I do not know how much but I will find out when two girls finish deposit.

Myrtle Beach is in South Carolina; I don't want you to get lost on your trip. :P

Have fun and Enjoy !!!! Make sure to bring sunglasses as South Carolina is very sunny most of the time.

Dang. I had the map upside down again.
Will make a poll on whether Reba has a spy cam somewhere here or not.

I've been to myrtle beach since it's close to NC like afew times and it's better to visit there during summer vacations not to live there due to hurricanes since we get alot of them during summer to fall lol so the weather there can be pretty nice most of the time, and it's pretty crowed too but still, a pretty nice place to visit on vacation and stuff like that.

The only experience I've had with Myrtle Beach was when I went to see NASCAR race at Rockingham in 98 (or was it 99?)... anyways, we were in town for the whole weekend of racing and decided to go to MB and check it out. We only went to the NASCAR restaurant and a strip club, but it seemed like a cool place. :thumb:

I know my family went there on a little trip for the beach, and they had a lot of fun. My brother in law who used to be bassist in blues band even got to play for fun with band at hotel and everyone enjoyed it. My family overall really liked their stay there, and probly 1 or 2 of them would say they'd like to live there.....

But, for answering your questions, I dont think my responses help much. What's wrong with where you live now Tweety? (Hmm.... just found where from old post you made) My personal feelings, MB has a good sized city around it. If you still live upstate NY (my brother-in-law grew up there and tells me it's like living in the country there), it may be too crowded for you, but then again, you might like crowded. It will surely be warmer and probly many tourists.

Hope I was some help.

My mother and father has a house and condo in Myrtle Beach, and I have family lives in Myrtle Beach, and me and my family are going down there in June. Beautiful places, and I have grew up there every summers, and LOVE IT! The cost of living down there can be a little expensive, due to hurriance insurance. The places can be a little expensive, but it's not that bad.

Normally, the house payment (if you buy a house), it can cost like around $950 to up a month) plus everything, depend what you go with mortgage with... Not cheap. Job economy are little chances of getting a good job. Most jobs are busy in summers, in winter time, they go really slow and not making enough money. For city government like MB City Offices, etc, they are always FULL. There are a lot of golf resorts, restaurants, hotels, motels, attraction places are always hiring for golf buddy/cabbie, cleaning, dishwasher, waiting person, etc, but not enough making money to pay the rent.

Yes, the hurriance seasons come like in late August to late October, it depend, some have bad hurriances and some are not that bad... Hurriance insurance are killing if you have a lot of money in your wallet or checking accounts.

Weather are really hot/warmer in summers.. It get a cooler (Not too cold) in Fall, Winter and then starting to warm up in Spring. In summer time, you will have to crank your air condition (A/C) on all the time. It gets HOT HOT days.

I am going in June with my family and friends and we are going to have BLAST time.. I cannot wait!!

I went there, it is so beautiful beaches !! You walk all the way down because the water is not highest like other ocean wave. It is very fascinated when you walk long distance in the beach.

I never forgot, we went to village mall. I held adorable lion cub in my arms. cub is so cute and big at 2 mos old. I still have a picture of myself and two sons with cub.

I would love to visit there again someday.
