Any one of you who run any 5k or 10k or half marathon or marathon race. Which one is the best score in your first of year of your race or second year or third year?

For example,

for the first year you scored 30 minutes for 5k
for the second year you scored 32 minutes for 5k
for the third year you scored 31 minutes for 5K

or in the same year, the following of the months, jan thru dec?

:wiggle:

I used to run many 5K's and 10K's, and one half marathon but not in recent years. My knees are totally shot. :(

do you remember which was the best scored when you run the first year or a few years later?

I noticed that i did run last year and this year that i run 5 and half minutes slower. :giggle: But the guy who beat me last year and then this year I beat the same guy from last year. He ran 7 mins slower than last year. :giggle:

But last year I did run three times and in the end of third run was better than the first one. However the new year that was 5 and half slower than the third race in the end from last year. But this year was better than the first and second races from last year. :dizzy:

It's a pretty complicated thing. When I was a kid, it was fine to have a race every week. Now it's crazy for me to think about racing even once a month. It takes me 2-3 months to train now, and I take a month off at least depending how bad my injuries are (knees also shot). I'm probably not going to race again till Spring; want to try cross training prior to running and see if I can knock a little more time off by sparing the knees a bit. I expect this race to be a little slower than what'd I'd like, just due to the extended time off, but think my next race after will be much better.

i dont remember if there have a race on beach? :hmm: ( sand only)
I've done one race on beach sand at the Isle of Palms, at sunset. It was really neat. Not good for breaking time records but very nice atmosphere.

I was never very fast but very steady. I did improve somewhat over time but nothing spectacular. Nothing to brag about.

Let me tell you about the half marathon. It was also a full marathon race. The people who signed up for the full marathon did the half course twice. Well, I was so slow that I was approaching the finish line the same time the full marathon winner was. He had all the press vehicles and photographers surrounding him, which meant I did, too. Talk about embarrassing!

At least I never had to stop on the side of the road to throw up or go to the bathroom (yes, they do).
