Albany, Missouri allow Golf Cart on street to save gas

Well, it would be ok if everyone else drove a golf cart too. Otherwise I think you would be in extreme danger of being hit by a car. I don't think the orange flag would help that much.

It has a top speed of whopping 15 mph and weighs around 900 to 1000 lbs.

Only if you decide to hack the golf cart to run 30 to 40 mph!! I'm sure most golf cart use belt drive w/ pulley. Just change the pulley for bigger one and other smaller one so it can go fast. You'll have to shift gear to reach 30mph  (just like drill press that you can change speed of drill spindle by turning the lever to move the belt to different pulley while spinning.)

Orange flags may not be enough but why not bright circling lights, paint golf cart bright orange or yellow ect.

It may be for small town only where people do not speed in the area. If it were my area, they will not allow that because cars are the king of the road. Saftey is another reason.

Bigger city, it's best to have electric car rather than golf cart.

I feel that next will be bicycle or tricycle to be legal on highway or street in near future, that's not really funny.

It would be like in China, even I can imagine if all bike is sold out and empty at wal mart.

It can happen if gas price over $10 per gal.

Hey Highlander,

Did you see the pix of the car lane on right side and bike lane rulz the road  It is a stark contrast here in USA Bike lane on right side of road and Cars rulz the road. I'm sure Chinese people have better health than USA.

I sure hope USA won't become like China and enthrone Bicycle and dethrone cars. I bet we're too selfish to make change, But be willing to change the fuel as long as we have cars. Can't live without cars since we live in big country

My area just have 25mph for school zone and few 30mph near school around 1.5 miles on same street.

Now thank for tell me and I am not interesting to visit your area.

purplecatty, bad idea about pictures due snow, heavy rain and strong wind.

Dont get wrong idea. I do love to ride the bike.

My subdivision (residential) speed limit is 25 mph.

The roads connecting my subdivision to local shopping areas and the interstate are 45-50 mph.

The interstate highway that I drive to work, church, hospital, beach, etc., is 60-65 mph.

Where can I drive 15 mph? No where.

Such a small town.

That would be cool, if I had a golf cart I would have it in extra horsepower to make the golf cart go faster and able to drive it on highways, freeways and other roads etc.

Use multi pulley just like drill press as tranny. The bigger pulley on motor and smaller pulley on axle can go fast if you shift gear from small to big on motor gradually. You can easily go over 50mph if you use it. Add a bit more batteries too for better torque

I wouldn't mind a golf kart that goes 30 mph. I'd just get in with my friend and we drive to a nearby grocery store or video rental store... maybe even a beer store!

It's electric and we save a lot of money. ;)

There are some golf carts that use gas fuel so I wonder as if those ones could speed bit more? Better fuel mileage than small cars?

They cost bit more expensive than the ones with the batteries although.

I love golf carts. Used to work with it where I worked as a golf maintenance worker and also for playing golf as well. Didn't use one using the gas fuel yet.
