I tried to find blog related to AIM and BB 8830 (from Sprintrelay.com) and seem I can't find it in there!!!. My wife got it for herself. it was already activitated. BUT AIM was already installed. I get the message when trying to log in "Please Visit www.blackberry.com/aim to activitate your handheld for AOL Instant Messager". I ended up using it's browser and going through loop downloading AIM 2.0 and reboot. I was not able to activitate it.

Hint Hint pleeeeeeeeeesssee!!! HELP!!:tears::tears::-o:-o

i suggest you to try BeeJive on your bb device. it is one of the best IM software on bb devices in my opinion.

PS i am having a trouble to read this site. my eyes are now sore !

I used Yak-On and I can transfer my account from old cellphone to a new cellphone without the extra charge.

I have same problem like you but it is yahoo. So I wont bother with it til I get a new one.

Anyother vote for Bee Jive here !!!

I'm sooo glad someone suggested it .. it's SO much better than toggling multiple IM programs, it's easy to use, and works very well !

I had webmessenger on my BB for about 1 day , and took it off ... I didn't like it .. BeeJive works GREAT !!

Beejive isn't free. $19.95 after free trial. Apple Ipod gets it free!?? I didn't ask for the problems. I will contact Sprint to find out what's going on. It seem to be an ongoing problem with other BB users as I noted. There are other IM software cost $49. It seem rude when Sprintrelay.com just installed AIM and not admitting there are problem with it. I found MobiChat is free, it's Java base IM. It is compatible with all BB as listed. I haven't tried it.

*shrug* I'm on my free trial still ... but I'll be buying the version after the trial is over ..

You're right, it's not free - but it works very well ... whereas webmessenger IM is free - but I hate the format

Wow, My Curve won't upgrade AIM 1.5 to 2.0, thats strange and not fair as see above! I want AIM 2.0, it dont perimt me. geez!

Oh you expect looking Multi-IM for free?? Oh come on..

Beejive is best muti-im program for BB. I highly recommending you get $29.99, becaise it can transfer Lic # from BB to the replacement BB if your bb is broke and get the replacement one or new BB.

you purchased BJive for 19.99, you will stuck with one BB, can't transfer it from BB to BB if BB is replaced another BB.

Good luck

Well at least JiveIM is only $20. I had to pay $40 for IM+ for my Windows, so that software is far worse than JiveIM!

I just contacted Sprintrelay.com customer svc thru vp. The guy told me that AIM that came with BB is down. It's not their network issue. AOL had problem with their server for BB AIM over the weekend. It's a nationwide outage and they've been working on it. He too had same problem too. I will go ahead and DL Trial version or try free MobiChat (java based). I'll let you know how good it is. I suspect Java does slow things down sometime. Seem odd that your Curve doesn't take AIM 2.0. maybe it's AOL's problem not Sprint. Sometime programmer can be so absurd for not testing general BlackBerry. I believe that yours is BB OS 4.2. My BB 8830 OS is 4.2. Let you know that Sprintrelay.com WILL have BB Curve in next two months. I will plan to drop Tmobile for Sprint because of unlimited service including Phone As Modem, Text, Email, Network. I haven't gotten Curve due to my budget. Gas price and food price and everythings else put bind on my budget GRRR Thankyou very much cruel cold world. LOL.

Thanks

LOL I know it's no fun blowing hole on wallet. I had cracked Trillian for while. I love it! But sadly, I don't use it that often. Try GAIM or Pidgin which is natively for Linux but they did have for Windows version (cross platform).. GAIM or Pidgin are Muilti IM software and it's free.

Yeah, true! I will call tmobile to see what up with aim which cant upgrade 1.5 to 2.0, But I am happy with Jivetalk IM, good euff!

I downloaded MobiChat (it's actually MIG33) and installed it via BB's WAP download. Navigation are pretty easy. Require sign up new account not related to Instant Message and requires Cell ph number. It offer limited free SMS message and Calls. I don't use those two so leave both alone. I did log in MIG33 and it requested Activation code (It was already sent thru SMS text in BB and I wrote down number and jumped back to MIG33 to activated it) then I use BB menu button in MIG33 and scrolled down and found "Other IM" and chose AIM and logged in (It have AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, and Google Talk). It worked but the buddy list don't have Groups, just "scrambled" buddy lists. There's no set up to separate it. I did test it by sending AIM to my sk2 AIM Screenname (I was using my wife's SN cuz it's her BB 8830). The text is really small which I DO NOT HAVE problem reading it but my wife probably can't read it). It works great! Sadly It don't have Font size in IM during chat. Buddy list seem big according to my wife's BB font settings. It charged me .91 cents for activitation. Oh well Who cares!!! LOL

I would rate it 5/10 because of scrambled buddy list and unable to adjust font size during AIM chat (unless anyone have sharp eagle eye like mine). That's So-So

Here's the BB requirements. here's the website.

My BB OS is v4.2.2.176 (find out yours in Options--About) I saw newer one is 4.3 but dunno if it's upgradeable. You can ask Tmobile if they do provide BB OS Upgrade. So click OS requirement for Jivetalk

www.beejive.com/download/index.php

Thanks

I downloaded Beejive software via BB. I just simply type beejive.com/download on Go to pop up screen. then follow the instruction. It did detected my OS version 4.2.2 and then I click to download Beejive 4.2.1. I checkmark to "Set Permission" and click download. Then Permission screen showed up and I closed it and it downloads. After download. It request automatic or manual detection. I use automatic. Detects sockets ect then next screen is License then next Full Lic/Trial Lic or cancel. I click Trial lic then it setup and got into "Add Account". I logged in as my wife's SN and finally logged in. It looked so much better than MIG33. The IM chat font is same as the buddy list like what my wife set for her BB font. Perfect for her.

I rate 9/10 because Buddy list scrambled, No groups. That's about it. Trial version.

YYEEAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!

I got AIM fixed!! I got home this morning from work and I was half sleepy.. I took my wife's BB 8830 and decided to try delete AIM and reinstall it. While on BB's browser, I was reading "term and agreement" and scrolled down to see if I missed anything. Then suddenly I spotted a link with "For black berry Pearl and Blackberry 8800". Ummph why did I missed this first place... It was above "Download" button. I decided to give it a try. I clicked on the link and it linked me to AIM for BB Pearl and 8800. I decide to give it a try downloading it. I noticed the AIM Icon look different. It's a Red balloon with "AIM" print on it. Not the Yellow Walking Man. I proceed download and then get out of browser and look for AIM in BB's desktop. I spotted Red Baloon w/ "AIM" print in it. Ummh something new!! I decided to click to run AIM and BIINNGOOO It's different this time!! AIM log in screen look bigger and I signed in my wife's SN and pswd then logged in.

IT WORKS!!!!:wiggle::wiggle::dj::dance::dance::dance:

Hey XMBGR! Why don't you go to www.blackberry.com/aim and scroll down the Term and agreement screen and before the "Download" Button. Try click this link above Download Button. You should see blue link with sentence says "for blackberry Pearl and 8800". Maybe you should try click on this link and give your Curve a run. I thought that Curve is pretty much the same as 8800.
Thanks
