Affluenza Defense keep Kid out jail for killing 4 people

Terrible injustice to the victims.

It's just a matter of time before he does it again.

I read that before you posted it. Ridiculous! Unfair to other people who are in similar cases.

Call me crazy, but doesn't letting him get away with it just add to his "affluenza" condition? They're just reaffirming it for him....you're rich and spoiled so you here's your get out if jail free card.

This is my new town, Keller is part of Fort Worth :/

No you're not crazy , but the judge is for letting the kid get away killing 4 people.

Instead of accounting for loopholes like this, the victims are still deceived by bogus laws our misinformed communities keep coming up with. *smh*

So, it is true that people with money get away with murder.

It must be rough being a spoiled brat...this is just teaching him that he is above the law because his daddy is wealthy...he will never know the real world

Essentially the defense is he's a spoiled rotten brat who was never taught morals, so he should get away with murder even, because he's "special." People can say what they will but the rich are not tried in the same courts as the those who are financially struggling and poor.....and it's an insult to suggest that everyone is treated equal when it's painfully obvious they're not....

I know, I understood what was written. I'm saying the court just piled more of the same "he's spoiled and hasn't learned any lessons" on him, contributed more of the same. It's a stupid line of reasoning. He hasn't learned any lessons, so now that we have a situation where he can be taught a lesson, but we won't teach it to him because he hasn't learned any before. Okay fine his parents spoiled him so he can't be held accountable, alright lets hold the parents accountable then. How bout that? he gets 10 years probation, rehab, and the parents get a jail sentence :D I like that

There's been an effort to do just that, but it's too much of a long shot unfortunately...what the courts need to do is make the time fit the crime, regardless of income and status of those involved.

You've got to realize though that courts are flawed and people can be bought. In my city, the wife of U.S. Rep. John Tierney was given only 30 days in prison on tax charges for helping her brother conceal income from an illegal offshore gambling business. Seriously, no one realized it was a crime? If I did that...I'd probably go away at least five years, and it wouldn't be served in anyplace near as nice as where they sent her....the system's a joke and the joke's on us....

I could understand the judge full aware that the young man has a family who are rich and they would pay $10,000 or more for him to be release from jail. If he had not been rich, then he would get the penalty of going to jail for ten years or more. The judge had lost his family on a crash, too. There must be a better way to teach him not to be a spoiled brat. I agree that he will never learn if he is not being taught how to care for humanity and to know the difference between right and wrong.

It is a shame that he gets away with it. :(

I think it's more a shame that he not only got away with murder, but that he also doesn't care. I doubt he feels anything for the families involved other than being inconvenienced to have to show up for trial....

I haven't read it but wasn't he one of the kids riding in the truck with him? As far as I'm concerned he is just he shouldn't get anything. The driver wasn't drinking by himself, all those kids were partying, nobody made the other kid drink and ride in his truck.....if he was the one with truck he would have been driving and the driver could have been in the back and paralyzed. They should get nothing. IMO the only victims were those on the side of the road, not anybody in the vehicle that killed them.
