Well - I use a lot of other seasonings to give plenty of flavor with no or little salt. I give daughter a little dish to pick out the beans if I use them. I try to plan high protein meals, but don't always succeed and we always have bread of some kind to fill the bellies of the 3 "porkers" in my family. As far as using vegetables they don't like, I will allow ketchup or something on the table to cover them in. Son will use a Chipolte ranch dressing and daughter will use either ketchup or a tomato bacon Catalina dressing.

Ive been on a caveman/zone diet for couple days and feel better already. More energy.

I want to lose 100lbs

Zone diet is just a low carb, low fat diet with a ratio of 30/40/30. Where is 30% of total calories from protein, 40% from carbohydrates, and 30% from fat.

Protein and carbohydrates contain 4 calories per gram, while fat has 9 calories per gram. For example a typical meal will have

20grams of protein, 27 grams of carbs, and 9 grams of fat.

Caveman/Paleolitic diet is avoiding processed foods like milk, pasta, potatos, rice, and bread. Things that didnt exist before modern civillizations Eating instead fresh meats like poultry, beef, and fish, vegatables, fruits, and nuts. The theory is those foods are what humans have evolved to thrive on. There could be some truth to it since some people are allergic to milk and gluten.

Caveman diet is inherently low carb and low fat so its similar to the zone diet. Ive checked the nutrition and this diet supplies all the needed vitamins and minerals without the calories.

Typical caveman meal can be steak cooked with vegetables with some fruit for desert.

Potatoes are processed? They didn't exist before modern civilisation? Huh???

Any variety of white Potatoes is new world food, we started having them within 10,000 yrs... They didn't consume them way back in early Paleolithic age...

Sweet potatoes or Yams are old world foods as it occurred in Africa which fit the out of Africa theory (migration of Paleolithic humans)

See other thread " Paleo and Primal Lifestyle " for more details...

supposedly theyre not good for you. I dont claim to be an expert. Look it up yourself and make your own conclusion

However look at it this way. Who eats a plain cooked potato? Most people put some butter or fat on it, or drop them in the deepfryer. Without any condiments potatos arent real appetizing. Same goes for bread and rice

I guess I am weird. I like a baked potato (white) that just has lemon juice and pepper on it. Been eating it that way for years.

Today's lunch - baked potato with vegetarian chili and diced onions. Son and daughter not joining in. Hubby and mother will have cheese, I don't have the right kind yet.
