Lindsay Lohan violated 'several aspects' of probation
Authorities: Lindsay Lohan violated 'several aspects' of probation - CNN.com

Though she is free to leave court-ordered rehab for substance abuse this week, actress Lindsay Lohan's legal issues could get more complicated after police in California said she violated her probation.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department said Lohan violated probation when she allegedly tussled with a then-staff member at the Betty Ford Center here as she was undergoing three months of court-ordered substance abuse rehab.

Authorities plan to send the result of their investigation to the district attorney's office to decide if the actress should face battery charges -- even though the former staff member has said she will no longer cooperate with the investigation and does not want charges filed, the department said Monday.

"It is expected that this investigation will be sent to the district attorney's office later this week," the sheriff's office added.

The Betty Ford Center fired the staffer, Dawn Holland, after information about the December 12 incident was leaked to the media.

"When patients come to the center for treatment, they come to a safe place where their identity is protected, where anonymity is safeguarded," the center said in a statement, without confirming Holland was the employee in question.

Holland has told investigators she will "no longer be cooperating with the investigation and does not wish to have charges filed," the sheriff's office said.

Last month, Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley confirmed that an "incident" had taken place, but declined to comment on what happened.

Meanwhile, Holland's lawyer said last month that the former staffer was "targeted, unmercifully interrogated, intimidated and threatened with her livelihood" by the treatment center.

Lohan checked into the Betty Ford Center on September 27 after it became clear a judge intended to send her to jail because of a failed drug test.

The judge eventually ordered Lohan to stay in the drug rehabilitation program until Monday instead of going to jail.

Lohan's probation is scheduled to end in August of 2011.

Prosecutor Danette Meyers said she expects to see Lohan back in municipal court on February 1 for a review of whether she has fulfilled the terms of her probation.

Lohan's legal troubles began when she was arrested twice in 2007 on charges of driving under the influence; in the second incident, she was charged with cocaine possession.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox has said if Lohan violates the rules of her rehab program or fails a drug test before her court date on February 25, she will be sent to jail for 180 days.

She's ungrateful. There's many people who would appreciate getting help at Betty Ford Center but it's out of their reach money-wise.

Boo-fucking-hoo, if she actually cared she would have been recovered already. She doesn't recover because she doesn't want to, she doesn't have to because she's filthy rich and has no consequences for her actions.

I say make her serve her entire jail sentence and no special privileges. When she gets out she is to get a regular 9-5 job, I hear there's a few poultry processing plants out there she could apply for. Make her work this job for a year after release. Also they can place a freeze on her bank accounts and force her to live on minimum wage. She needs to learn to respect others. If she is completely cut-off from the Hollywood lifestyle then she might make a change but it has to come from her. Until that happens I don't see her recovering anytime soon. She'll be the American Amy Winehouse.

It's not about the money, I tell ya ;)

I think she needs to spend a whole year in prison....

How do you really feel? :)

Some people can't be fixed.

Quite true. And some have gotten away with their unacceptable behavior for so long, that they develop the conviction that they will always be able to manipulate their way out of things. You find them in jail cells going"What the hell happened? I'm not supposed to be here!"

I am on her side. So she does drugs. Big whoop. If drugs were legal she wouldn't be in this jam, though no doubt there would still be folk self-righteously denouncing her. *shrug*

I think Lindsay need serious get jail asap than in and out rehab and jail 24 hrs she celebrity I think she must get life in jail immediately and no bonds!!

What your opinion? Idea or not

But drugs are destructive, not to the person abusing them but to others around them as well. Why do you think employers drug test employees that have been in an accident on the job, or what if they hurt another person on the job? A person who is stoned, high, wired, etc. is a liability for any employer. Drugs also destroy families as the drugs cause violent behavior leading to domestic violence. Drugs also hurt the economy - instead of people buying necessities such as food and paying rent they are using the money instead on drugs thus these people end up drawing WIC and foodstamps as well as living in government funded apartments draining our government of money that could be spent on people who REALLY need the help. They also cause people to lose jobs, when people lose their jobs their spending power is greatly reduced.

Drugs are nothing good and should be kept illegal. Look at what meth, heroin, cocaine, and other hard drugs have done to people. There is a reason why they are illegal, they are harmful.

Can't deny that your statement is completely true. However, what concerns me is not so much her personal decision to use drugs, but the effect that the behaviors that are related to drug use have on those that had no part in the decisions she has made. No man (or woman) is an island.
