a slight tremor

Here's an update:

They changed the location of epicenter to 53 KM north-northeastern of here. And, they also changed the Richter scale to 5.0.

They always do that change the Richter scale, something is up:hmm: I am glad you are ok.

lol no:p but my aunt lives near the fault line and water was coming OUT of her pool and stuff in her house and neigbours houses broke

I def felt it here. Just some older buildings damaged.

All the gov't workers got evacuated and went home. One of the mall's where my family own's a Subway had to be closed down because of the already decrepit parking lot that's being reno'd now. I was at our downtown store and i thought it was something being messed up on the Congress Centre being rebuilt right now. I thought the crane dropped something huge or something.

I guess it made the president of China's visit today a little bit more exciting.

But yeah, an earthquake was my last guess. I remember when I moved here from vancouver and wondered why we weren't doing earthquake drills here. the other kids thought i was weird...

damnnit earthquakes sure roam around the world lately  but glad everyone is ok but now I realized it can happen in canada too :P my dad's side of family lives there but good thing it's only 5.5 but if it was huge earthquake I wud be definately be  for sure...

 Some facebook friends in northeastern Ohio felt little quake from Canada. I was nothing to feel. I remember about 1986 quake in northeastern Ohio. I felt it while sitting at my work. Quake was 5.0.

The news came on and my husband told me that there was an earthquake in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada outside the border of Quebec. We were very surprised about it. Also Toronto was felt and they all worried about the leaders coming over for the G8 and G20 Summit.

Here on our Manitoulin Island, we did not feel anything or happen to see if the lake is waving. We did have fire here on our village, but it was in the back of the dump (landfill) and got spread over to the dump and other properties. It was a dry spell (drought) that cause the fire to burn, but that was about two months ago.

Come to think about it, I have never been under the earthquake, tornado, flood or any of the bad disasters that would have cause us much distress and lost of hope. I guess I knock wood good every time I get lucky. I have my medicine pouch with a special rock and sweetgrass along with sage to keep me in good health and to protect from dangers which is hanging in my car (in front of the mirror).

I am getting to notice that there are many kinds of disasters all over the world. So it is started to happen this year - 2010 instead of 2012. What about the people? They were in violence very bad. I don't like it at all. :(

I'm just south of the epicenter of the earthquake. Ottawa is a little further from it than I was, depending on where you were. I was writing an English exam, when lound "tings" began going off and everything began to shake. It lasted for about 2 minutes. My dad, who was in Ottawa at the time, said it lasted for about 10 seconds where they were. They thought a building had collapsed. We definitely felt the earthquake! In our cafeteria, the tables all moved a foot. Needless to say, our quiet exam period wasn't nearly as quiet anymore. :P

By the way, the tremor was more than just "slight" here.
In Toronto it was only about a 3.0. A lot of friends said that they didn't even feel it. My aunt down in the Quinte area could still feel it though.

I felt nothing in NYC yesterday.

But I never forget about the 1986 OHIO earthquake...it was fun!!

So far I had experienced with earthquakes for three times. 1 in OHIO, and two in Northern CA. That CA quakes were little bit stronger than OHIO quake.:eek3:

I talked to some friends in that area, too. They felt it much more than we did here in southern areas.

Ohio had one back in 1965, I think it was. I was a kid, but my parents owned a deli. All the bottles on the shelf were shaking and some things fell off. No one knew what the heck was going on at the time!:giggle:

.:: Ottawa Earthquake activity ::.

Very interesting and graphic information about the faults in this city.

I did not realize that Ottawa has had two faults sandwiched under their area.

Yeah. I never realized that Ohio was located on a fault line until I experienced the first tremors when I was a kid. My father then looked it up. We were all surprised.

the part of ottawa Im on is orange which isn't the greatest either...ah well what can ya do
