A Plea to the Hearing Parents

My best friend tried to get me to do scrapbooking but the materials are so expensive!!!

I do scrapbooking and cardmaking. The materials can be expensive, but I get most of mine from the dollar store or when they are on a massive sale and I have a coupon for Michael's Craft Store. In some cases, you can use some things lying around the home.

I have done about 15 scrapbooks and have a bunch more to go. Daughter has also done 3 and son has made 3 as well. Their are from the years they were in public school.

Macbook! That was evil. Therefore hilarious.

See, we can joke! Often comments that are taken personally are best handled with humor or a big "huh".

Knitting, reading, gaming and family are things I love. Cooking is a great pleasure when there is energy left.

@ Grendel, when are you going to share the adorable video of Super Li?? Bet ya that is toooo cute. Your avatar is great too. Live your dreams lady, go for it and show us what ya got.

I also read, knit, crochet, love to cook, sew, quilt, paint, do various kinds of artwork. I work all this around all the chores I have so I don't get to do it often enough.

Irks me when well meaning people say, "well, can't you do it while watching TV?" Well, no I can't, I have to read the captioning, so I can't look at two things at once.

Urban adventuring. I like hiking my urban landscape, getting on buses and seeing where I end up.

I also like maps, and planning adventures.

I enjoy cooking up a huge meal.

I like to Camp, Hike, Fish. I enjoy anything in nature basically.

I do not like to Hunt...Although I do enjoy cooking the meat the guys bring home. :)

I have tried Bear meat once. Not one of my favorites.

Botti I like many adventures too and for me, it would be fun to get on a bus with you and seeing where we'd both end up:)

Yesterday I danced in a public Zumba demo - a bunch of <maybe 20-30 > Zumba people of various levels, including instructors and just "passer-by" - it was at this charity walk near where I live. People could come and go as they pleased, and as they were walking/strolling/riding whatever for the "Walk". Many dogs there! And kids, and people dressed up in some clown costumes - one of them danced some.

I did terrible in Home Economics which included section on use of sewing machine, cooking with measurement etc. Not so bad with the cooking though the measurements meant little to me. But the "crafting" part was horrible - I was very self-conscious of not understanding the instructor/use of machines ....we had to take turns on them and the others kids were waiting.
So you guys were going over different craft projects and thing like knitting, that's what I was thinking about related to it-
my aunt loves to make quilts though, and handmade jewelry, multimedia-

I would like that too.

I loved to take little hikes with Finlay in the woods, he loved it too! Finlay would carry a tennis ball in his mouth looking real proud of himself and if the ball belonged to another dog Finlay felt extra proud ! But if a dog got this ball, Finlay would very be upset!! LOL!!

I once took the subway in Boston , and when I got off I was right back where I started!! I did not end up too far away! It was a good thing I was not trying to get any place importance, as I was going no where fast!!

OK, here goes. I'm a wannabe filmmaker -- always have been. And have never really pursued that dream.

I love shooting video, love editing it, love the medium for bringing stories alive. I used to write all night long, but for many years video has been what I do in the quiet hours when I can't sleep and everyone else is snoring ... if I'm not drawn onto AD. Sometimes I'm actually on AD during the gaps in time when I'm waiting for video to render on another computer. I've learned how to work with lighting equipment and sound equipment, different cameras that I'll probably never be able to afford to get my hands on, I've practiced all kinds of editing techniques. I've even gone back to school at night to study filmmaking a few years ago, even though it had nothing to do with my "day job," thanks to a nonrestricted tuition reimbursement program. I've finally gotten up the nerve to enter work in a film festival last year, taking part with a team in a 48 hour competition where you don't know your subject and provided characters/key lines until Friday night and have to deliver a finished film on Sunday evening -- but I'll never share a link, it was so much fun, but truly such crap that I was almost too embarrassed to show my husband. Someday, though, I'll get it right ....

I shoot everything. Feeding the chickens, driving to work in the morning. Li getting on her van to school. I've got endless footage, going back 20+ years. Some of my stuff has gone places even though I haven't :). My husband was roommates with Dave Matthews before he started his band and I've got great footage of them goofing around at home, of Dave noodling away on his guitar while serving drinks at a bar and talking about how someday he'll be a rockstar! Some of the footage Dave included in a documentary, some we watched a couple of years ago and unanimously decided to to bury it :) Incriminating all around!

I have to admit that Li is my favorite subject, so I'm breaking SallyLou's rules by talking about her a bit. She and I have been playing with a green screen studio we set up together in her playroom, making videos of her flying like superman over Tokyo and wandering through dark forests -- all from the safety of our back room. Not exactly the stuff of the HBO or PBS documentaries I aspire to, but still, great fun. I'd love to recreate a series of children's fairy tales with her, and we both took off work/school in August and wrote a bunch of stories together that we want to film.

That's one of my big unrealized dreams, to make films and tell stories visually, something that will likely never happen as anything more than a hobby, but it's something I slip away to do in the middle of the night. whew. There. Got personal. Scary.

You could made a time capsule out of your footage of 20+ years for your grandchildren! They would love it! One day you may film some very importance event that could be used later on. Like the guy who filmed JFK just as he was getting shot, that film became very importance.
I bet some people love to buy your film of Dave Matthews !

Just being random: googling 'deaf smurf' in google images brings Bottsini's avatar as the first hit. Seriously.

If you only google deaf smurf, no. Click images - yes! There she is! Fame is everlasting Botti!

See Grendel? - images last a long time! I have a mental image of Super Li !!

Aah okay I did a regular search.. Botti! Fame isn't so fleeting after all. :)

for the love of god.... STOP IT.

You are asked to come in and participate in non-CI/non-Deaf threads to get socialized with us. Now stop crying and come party on.
