I saw a picture of Skoda Yeti car in the newspaper. It looks interesting. Only thing that I don't like is two plastic draws for drinking water on the utility compartment (between front chairs). I think it is very stupid idea because of germs. I sort of like this style. (Perhaps, it is better than a cooper or other one I saw somewhere on the road.) How much do you think it cost?

Wow, really cool car, I like it ummm...40 thousands?... :Ohno:

Nice....Too bad VW can't bring the Skoda's (and SEAT from Spain) over to the USA 'cause they will eat into VW sales here.......

VW just happens to own the Skoda car company along with Audi, Bentley, Bugatti (the 1,000 hp/250 mph Ferrari Enzo killer), and SEAT.

never heard of that company, too many car company names out there.

Now an automotive history lesson from the Professor here:

Subject: Czechoslovakian cars

http://www.briskoda.net/cms/index.php?id=84

After the victory of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in 1946, the enterprise was nationalized and the Mladá Boleslav-based motor company hived off as a free-standing enterprise. After the fall of communism in 1989, the company had to be restructured, which required a lot of money and experience. It was generally assumed that it was only a strong foreign partner that could bring the two things. In 1991 Volkswagen bought 30% of shares of the newly established joint-stock company. Later VW’s share increased to 70% and since 2000, VW has been the 100% owner.

and there is another Czechoslovakian car company called Tatra. They used to make cars until 1997. Tatra is still in the business, but nowadays they make trucks. One of their engineers, Hans Ledwinka, was considered the Czechoslovakian equal of Ferdinand Porsche (the designer of the original VW Bug and founder of the Porsche car company)

The original Tatra T77/T87 were so incredibly advanced in the 1930's but these cars were more nastier to drive than a Porsche 911. When the Nazis took over Czechoslovakia right before WWII, they had to ban their officers from driving Tatra's because a lot of 'em were killed driving the cars. Tatra kept making cars following the Ledwinka designs under the Commies until 1997 when they threw the towel on the cars.

British people who own Skoda cars, is asking for trouble, they will get teased by their friends and family because it is cheap and rubbish car!!

My father used to buy it in 1970's and fed up with people's attitudes, so he sold it pretty quickly!!

Skoda cars are doing much better nowadays, now that Czech Republic is a 'free' country. When I visited my friend in Prague, I rode in his Skoda Favorit and it was a nice passenger car. My Czech friend told me that Skoda and Volkswagen were working together and that parts for both company would be similar. So that they can be used interchangable between the cars of both companies.
