A German man searching for his keys got himself wedged head-first in a large rubbish bin and had to be rescued by firemen, police said Monday.
The 39-year-old from the western town of Moenchengladbach was scrabbling around for a bunch of keys he thought he had thrown away with the papers but soon found himself firmly stuck, unable to go forwards or backwards.
A passing friend called the fire brigade who tried in vain to pull him out by his legs.
Eventually, the firemen widened the hole at the top of the container and pushed the man inside, where he spent an uncomfortable 30 minutes in freezing temperatures on Sunday night waiting to be rescued.
The hole was widened further and the unfortunate man crawled out with cuts and bruises.
And his keys.
