A Deck of Cards

I've got a lot of decks of playing cards. I've got one deck that's transparent and two that are "magic". ;)

Call me crazy, but playing cards only have meaning if you put the meaning behind them. I know when I play poker or Rummy with my "Born Again" Christian mother, and myself (who is a wiccan), we : don't sit around and debate the religious aspects of the cards. We are concerned with kicking each other's butts. Why do you have to over anyalize a simple thing like cards and ruin it? People do not buy cards to insult Jesus, or to learn from them, they buy them to play games. What's next? Are we going to talk about the inner meaning of the "Mouse Trap" game? :ugh2:

I agree with you. My grandparents have always played cards with us. Every year when my family gets together for Thanksgiving and Christmas, we ALWAYS play cards. There are many different games we play. A few years ago, we stopped using playing cards and started using Rook cards. This was because my grandparents didn't want to support the devil by using playing cards. So, my parents had to change the rules a little bit so that the Rook cards could be used.

I bet that if I looked outside and said, "Grandma, see the sun and the moon? Did you know that if you walk outside whent he moon is over there and the sun is over there, you're walking in the devil's trap?" She will probably never go outside again. ;)

Most people in the "older generation" cannot grasp the concept of my religion, but they choose to believe in superstition? :wtf: I've had several encounters with my mother's "church friends" and they tell me to stay away from them. They also believe in all these kinds of superstitions, and they place a huge stigma on me because I'm a witch. I'm officially placing a stigma on all people that won't play with cards because they think there're evil. That's silly!!!
