3 arrested in N. California gang rape of lesbian

RICHMOND, Calif. – One man and two teens have been arrested on suspicion of gang-raping a woman last month in the San Francisco Bay area while allegedly taunting her for being a lesbian, police said Thursday as they searched for a fourth suspect. Officers arrested Humberto Hernandez Salvador at his Richmond home Wednesday night, Richmond police Lt. Mark Gagan said. The 31-year-old is being held without bail on gang rape, kidnapping and carjacking charges.

Police on Wednesday also arrested a 15-year-old Richmond boy and a 16-year-old Hercules boy, who were being held at a juvenile detention center on similar charges. Their names were not released.

Police would not detail each person's alleged involvement in the attack but said tips from local residents led to the arrests.

Investigators are still seeking 21-year-old Josue Gonzalez, who had prior addresses in San Rafael and Richmond, on a $1 million arrest warrant for gang rape, kidnapping and carjacking, police said. Gonzalez was called by the nickname "Pato" during the attack and is considered armed and dangerous, Gagan said.

Detectives say the 28-year-old victim was attacked on Dec. 13 after she got out of her car, which bore a rainbow gay pride sticker. The alleged attackers made comments indicating they knew she was a lesbian, police said.

Authorities have characterized the case as a hate crime. Police said the victim lives openly with a female partner.

The 45-minute attack started when one of the men approached the woman in the street, struck her with a blunt object, ordered her to disrobe and sexually assaulted her with the help of the others, according to detectives.

When the group saw another person approaching, they forced the victim back into her car and took her to a burned-out apartment building. She was raped again inside and outside the vehicle and left naked outside the building while the alleged assailants took her wallet and drove off in her car, police said.

Well fortunately since rape is not permitted in most civilized countries nobody would dare admit to being pro rape.

It was terrible what happened to that poor woman though.

ugg this makes me sick. *queasy*

NO one deserves this. I cannot begin to understand what emotions she must have been going through.

I was date raped back in 94 and it took me forever to report the crime. When I did, they guy had a very long rap sheet....and he knew people I knew. My phone started ringing right away....because they knew how he was. I was afraid to report it b/c back then this guy's father and my father worked in real estate in the same geographical area and did not like one another. I knew if my father found out there would be MUCHO DRAMA and I did not want that for him. So I waited.....many years later an aquaintence of mine was found...dead about 7 miles from the date rape site. I got really upset..and forced myself to go ahead and come forward. The whole freaking thing was so sad and caused so much anger and deep weirdness in me it took a long time for me to come out of all that. But that horrible incident involving my aquaintence is what propelled me forward. Turns out it wasn't him, BUT when I reported it and the site of the crime...boy the officer had alot to say to me. She was awesome. She really encouraged me.

This story really hits hard. I will never understand this kind of violation.

I am really very sorry that you had such a horrific experience. You are not alone. The vast majority of date rapes are not reported at the time, and usually for reasons such as you gave. It is good that you finally were able to deal with it.
 
Damn. Not so good. I think every women should bring a pepper-spray for self-protection.
 
It's a cruel act.

I'm glad that they are being charged with a hate crime. I hope they get the maximum.

This is why we need hate crime laws on every law book in the country.

I remember saw one video clip somewhere about woman wearing the sharp blade female condom, once a guy raped her, and then his penis splitted into a 4 pieces- it looks like a hotdog.

what a sad and unfortunate story. :( i'm glad that this is being considered a hate crime.
