BALTIMORE -- Baltimore police said detectives have arrested three men accused in the stabbing death of a 20-year-old Marine.
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said 26-year-old Michael Wiggins, 22-year-old Vernon Hadley and 27-year-old Nicky Woodward were arrested Sunday morning.
Guglielmi said they will likely face murder charges. Guglielmi praised investigators for working throughout the night to quickly make arrests in the serviceman's slaying.
"The story of this Marine is not dissimilar to some of these officers on the street. This is someone whose dedicated his life to service and the kind of people that go into a party with a violent weapon with the intent to kill somebody -- we just don't need those people around and we've got to start again holding these people accountable," Guglielmi said.
Pfc. Darius Ray was stabbed Saturday morning during a fight at a house party in northeast Baltimore. He was stationed in Washington, D.C.
A second man suffering from stab wounds was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital and later Shock Trauma, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.
Police said several people from the neighborhood showed up at the party prior to the stabbing, got into a fight with the college kids and were thrown out of the party.
One of those kicked out of the party returned with a knife, stabbed two men and then fled the scene.
