253 mph in a 1,000 hp Bugatti EB 16/4 Veyron worth.....a cool $1 million!

The editor of Car and Driver magazine sure got brass balls enough to take the car for a spin at VW's test track in Germany. He got the car up to 253 mph before the computer cut off all the fun on him.

I barely touched the car's top-speed governor that was set at 253 mph (407.5 kilometers per hour) on that first lap, but on the second I held the car there for at least three of the back straight's five miles. The combination of driveline noise, tire noise, and hurricane-force winds rushing over the car must have been deafening, but I don't remember it, as I concentrated on keeping the gently meandering car within the center of the track's three lanes.

oh boy!
i try to hit 180 every day on rt 50.
i have hit 245 at booneville on a supercharged nitro injected cbr xx1100...on took a shot at the top speed record for a 2 streamlined harley but failed.. i only hit 312.23...a good 10 mph slower

but good for the guy in a car


for all the money someone will spend on that peice of crap...and never take it to the top speed,or drive it like a race car.. the can buy a 1978 ferrari gtb...yes the one on magnam pi, and hook up an electro magnectic super charger with some nitro and get a driveable and reliable car. that boogi will need tune ups once a month from not being driven like a race car....just like most ferraris and hi end super cars.

so.. if i ever get a car it will be a gtb.. i wish for a 63 gto.. i just have 7 million bucks.

all that money spent just meet the o to 60 and 0 to 100 mph of a 1986 honda vfr 700. what a joke . you buy any used sport bike and throw a supercharger on it a meet that car for top speed and blow it away everywhere else.....and still spend under $7000 bucks

Pischetsrieder, the president of VW (the owners of Bugatti AND Lamborghini) once wrecked a McLaren F1 at 240 mph on the autobahn when he was the head of BMW 10 or so years ago. Lucky for him he walked away from the wrecked McLaren 'cause the car was strongly built like a race car.

Hell yeah! He's really lucky he didn't even crash that $1 million dollar car, I didn't know about the guy crashed the McLaren F1 and walked away from it...240 mph is still insane!

I ain't going that fast on a motorcycle, hell no! Good luck losing a limb from a terrible wreck with a motorcycle. A motorcycle is really dangerous at insaneously high speeds!
