I was making coffee this morning when I looked out the window and saw a huge doe standing in the backyard looking right at me. I was like "There's a fat deer in our backyard! Maddie wanted to jump right up and go see but I said no-no stay where you are, you have to be still or you will scare them away! Then I kept looking then I saw a SECOND doe - then while I was watching those two, a THIRD comes from the east side of the house. I was like WOW this is once in a lifetime! So I sneak over to my camera bag and grabbed my camera, and luckily I was able to get off some shots, but only 2 came out fairly good. I didnt really have time to compose the shots or fool with the manual settings so this is what I got - two raw unedited images to share with ya'll! Enjoy!

I didnt get a shot of the other doe as she kept turning her backside to me, plus the others were too fuzzy - damn shaky hands and I didnt have my tripod nearby, otherwise I probably would have more to share.

Ohh cool pics ya snapped, Dixie.... I'm sure ya were enjoying seeing the deer walk around..... I do remmy one time I woke up in the morning and looked out my bedroom window and saw what I thought I saw, a moose... that is a rare sighting for me.... it was in the fall time I think.....some time later I saw another moose in the winter.. but the first moose I saw was male with big antlers..and the 2nd moose I am sure was female.. both moose were by the barn... rare time.. but that was years ago... so...

There has been some instances when some folks have encountered some deer at decks and etc.... cute pics however.....

Wow, this is very awesome pictures. Really neat to see the Fawn and Does.

Dixie, very nice pics you have there. Thanks for sharing it with us.

AWESOME pics, Dixie! wow!!! I love to see deer eating around... i used to see them around in the past but havent seen them in long time maybe due to the fact we have dogs? I guess.. so dang! haha! :)

That's awesome pictures of the deers. :-D I have a few pictures of the deer close up, too. I was at Mt. Rainier National Park and saw 2 or 3 deers nearby but I caught picture one of the deer, though.

That is a good pictures of the deers and they look great. They looked like Does. They don't seem to have antlers at all. We have lots of deers here on the Manitoulin Island even close to my home. Every time I drive on the highway to other towns I see lots of deers along the highways and also in some towns, too. The male deers are suppose to have antlers if they are adults and Does don't have antlers. I hope I don't disappoint you if that is not a male deers.

Dixie,

The top one is a beautiful shot, despite the barbed wire fence. Deer are really pretty to watch and even more fun to get them running and see if you can keep up with the car and check how fast they're running. I hit one years ago on an early Christmas Eve morning, but I wasn't racing the deer, just didn't see her.

For this time of year, the deer look in good shape and the winter not being too hard on them. You may want to go down to a feed store and get some crushed corn and throw out there. Who knows, you may see the fawns this spring.

thanks everyone!

Pek,
I have thought about getting some corn, but thing is we already have a food plot at the bottom of the hill so Im not too worried about it just yet.

*cleaning a rifle*....my my my...those are the beautiful doe......Oh.....*putting a rifle away* *ahem*....there are nothing to see here.

nice picture by the way:thumb:

Its a once in a lifetime thing? Congrats! BEAUTIFUL shots especially the barbed wire- I liked that!

I would have never imagined someone saying that as I've taken deers for granted seeing them everywhere- In Wisconsin, in Michigan, in New York... and Illinois

I see them frequently when i'm commuting from work to my house and I live near Chicago. (mind you I drive home at nights around 11-12ish that explains it all)

lol and I know your only joking, but it does happen around here - although Ive never done it myself. We see deer here too, but 3 of them right in the back yard is amazing. Ive never seen them get this close to the house, I was quite surprised.
