I am aware that some of us in here consider rense.com to be a biased site, but I like it because I notice that what is reported in there is at first vehemently denied only to be proven true about a year or so later.
Anyhoo, this is pretty much old news...I was aware that a MASSIVE amount of money is unaccounted for in the DoD, but I was taken aback at the true extent of this financial mess, and I find it deeply disturbing.
2.6 TRILLION dollars. Sheeee-yit, that is a lot, you will agree.
Just throwing this into the mix for what it's worth.

Yet people complains about welfares, SSI/SSDI etc... I doubt they hit anywhere close to 1B! Ignore tha MultiTrillion dollars waste...

Hope someday Americans start to wake up and pay more attention to the congress floor

Do you know how long I could live on one-one millionth of that?!?

Yeah $100,000 for a tiny jeep and I remmy in the Reagan years we were picking up wind of $8 nails, $500 hammers, $300 screwdrivers, and $2,000 toilets.

Thats how the deficit jumps up high is that the administrations is so generous with defense spending than human spending.

Rense is just an interesting site.

Oh man! *shakes head*
Makes me wonder if the DoD will be held accountable? I hope the money will be found.

Wow, it's so nice to see our tax dollars at work playing hide and go seek

Nothing is new under the sun... I'm from Rome...(Er..Wash DC area) and I heard too many stories like this (maybe not quite on this scale). You get quite jaded with government especially the Feds. Former Senator Proxmire (I believe he passed away recently) did this nation a great service with his "Fleece" awards to programs that wasted U.S. tax dollars. Unfortunately, it just pointed out such things but nothing really ever changed.

If you ever wonder why Rome fell, this type of thing was one of the main reasons....

Anyway, fat chance they ever find it either!

I actually read about a similar issue in the newspaper a few days ago. Apparently, the military doesn't keep receipts or keep track of all transactions that take place. Now, they've got billions of dollars unaccounted for. That's like my dad giving me $1,000 and a month later, it's gone. He then asks me what exactly I spend it all on and I have nothing to show.

As someone related to a politician, I can say you would seriously NOT believe all the stuff that goes down.

Public policy is a huge mess of interests, lobbying, voter psychology, consumer psychology, under-the-table handshakes, and all sorts of things Machiavelli wrote about.

What is my favorite tactic used in general politics? The simple fact that image takes more form in the voter's mind than words do. The politician I'm related to has a record for being against a certain type of philosophy. This meant some risk to him being reelected fairly recently. So you know what he did? He took a picture of him engaged in an activity that made him seem he was for the philosophy. Worked like a charm. I'm still related to a politician in office. ;)

I hope this is your wake up call! I have known this for long time.

*Snort* All gov'ts have their skeletons in their closets. It is absolutely amazing to me that anybody is actually surprised at such things. As for a wake up call, er...I believe you have to change human nature (not easy to do) as politicians are the worst of the lot. You're trying to please everybody and end up pleasing nobody. Worst yet, the things you compromise just to stay in office. What else are these "stinkers" good for? They are tainted as soon as they are in office. That should be a warning to anybody wanting to get into politics. You don't come out smelling like a rose. I submit there may be a couple decent people in the whole lot but not many at all.

Your right, not many good guys wants to get involved with political world. I remember many people want Lee Ioccca (Spelling) to become president. He turned down! Reason? Pay is stink, and too many BS in the system that he don't want to get involved.

I know, US government is in prime for collapse. Once collapse, who do you think will take over? You'd be surprise!

We should not become jaded to what these clowns in office do---we can kick them out, just remember that.
Heh, here's a gem I found, from The Court Jester (1956 with Danny Kaye)...

Hawkins: I've got it! I've got it! The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true! Right?
Griselda: Right. But there's been a change: they broke the chalice from the palace!
Hawkins: They broke the chalice from the palace?
Griselda: And replaced it with a flagon.
Hawkins: A flagon..?
Griselda: With a figure of a dragon.
Hawkins: Flagon with a dragon.
Griselda: Right.
Hawkins: But did you put the pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle?
Griselda: No!!! The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!
Hawkins: The pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon; the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true.
Griselda: Just remember that.

I dunno about that possibility. I can understand your viewpoint though. I could more easily see reactionary elements taking over. That is usually the case isn't it? Take Russia or other countries in similar situations. The reason I say that is that it takes organized groups to get anything done. I never seen the rich agree as a group. You got liberals, conservatives, moderates and the whole gamut. It will be interesting to see.
