1974 Ford F350

I didn't put the motor in. When I get a chance, i will take a picture of what I mean about the oil drain bolt. On this pan, it is on the side of the pan.

Wow what an old truck and still running? Gee thats amazed.

Have you thought of getting F-250/350 Diesel? My friend just bought 97 Powerstroke crew cab, and it appears to sip less Diesel than mine. Not sure why, it even has turbo and bigger engine. The weight is just 900 lbs less than mine. My truck weights 10,000 lbs his old truck weights 9.300 lbs.

My grandpa used to have that truck. :)

And yeah I agreed that for you car isn't ideal for you.

I have a Nissan Frontier for daily commuting ;) I am going to use the Ford truck to haul timber.

Good point.

If you have to use the oil pan that's on there, a new plug can be installed in a better place. The pan would have to be removed and a new bung (threaded hole) welded in a new place. May not be worthwhile.

I am giving that some serious consideration. When I am ready for a welder, I am going to have them look at it. I want to weld 4x4 metal posts to the bed and attach 2x12 wood for braces. I think it will make it look a lot better. It has a dually flatbed and the PO put up a plywood box - it looks ugly.

I am also going to take out the rotting floors and replace with diamond aluminum. I have to replace the seat too, and the dash, and the windshield ... and the ... and the .... LOL

Its gonna take a while.

I drove it to Cartersville the past couple of days from Marietta, GA. The first trip I made was to Lula, GA. It took about 2 hours. I put in the autozone rep's recommended 5w 30 oil and it burned nearly every quart on the way to Lula. I added 4 quarts at Lula. It burned 3 on the way home. I stopped at Advance Auto and the guy just grimaced. He said 5w 30 is much too thin for a high mileage 7.5 motor. He recommended 20w 50 and replace a quart with Lucas oil. So I did that. Haven't had any problems other than the occassional hiccup.

It runs good. Now on to the restoration aspect of it. Gotta get this old lady looking good for date night.

I want to replace the instrument panel trim and make it out of wood. I want to do the same thing to the dash. I am going to replace the floor panels with diamond plated aluminum and currently looking for a new bench seat. I might just take the old one to have it re-upholstered. I got a quote for replacing the windshield. I am going to paint it candy apple red. Lots of work to be done.

Pimptastic. :D

I have some pics of an old F250 that was at a car show a few years back with diamond plate flooring. Let me know if you want to see it. Older truck than yours and nicely restored.

20w50 too THICK

Just get 10w40 or 15W40 diesel oil.

I have 79 F150 those were tough truck. Get 15-21 mpg.
