East Hartford (WTNH) - Five banks, five days, three states. Police say one woman is behind them all.

The latest bank hit is in East Hartford.

"They got robbed, then this one gets robbed and now I can't do any of my banking today," Noemy Louangvannasy, of East Hartford, said.

Bank customers are alarmed. This is the fifth bank robbery in five days across three states. Police say it's the same woman. The last happened Friday afternoon in East Hartford at the New Alliance Bank.

The woman walk in and handed the teller a note, "I have a bomb."

She then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

"I could not believe a woman does these things, she is very brave," Julie Lisee, of East Hartford, said.

Police have identified her as 34-year-old Heather Brown, of Norwich. She is the person of interest in the case on parole for robbing a credit union. They believe her robbery spree started Monday in Montville, then Tuesday in Westerly, RI.

Police seized a blue van in Norwich which they believe to be her getaway car.

Wednesday it was Middletown, where the State Police Bomb Squad was called in after Brown allegedly threatened to blow up the T.D. Bank North, and even came in with a suspicious package.

"She placed the bag on the counter of the bank and produced a note indicating to give her money or the people in the bank would be hurt," Sgt. Richard Croosks, of State Police, said on Monday.

Thursday, police say she robbed a bank in West Springfield, Mass., handing the teller a note demanding money saying she was armed. Some bank customers have been following her progress wondering where she will strike next.

"I am very sad, you can earn your own living, you don't have to do these things," Louangvannasy said.

I remember reading about some 400 pound lady scam artist who died in a hotel while hiding from a 4 state hunt for her in Hanover County, VA 20 years ago.

How could she make a living when our economy is killed, and America is falling apart? Desperate people do desperate things, it happens. I'm not saying she did was right, I'm saying I feel sorry for her and for a lot of people out there who are struggling to hold on.

In my area, violent crime is way down and theft is way up. Mostly shoplifting. More bank robberies, too.
