Mexican police have confiscated an improvised cannon that they say was used to fire packages of marijuana across a border fence into California.

The makeshift cannon was made of plastic pipe and powered by compressed air sourced from an old car engine, police in the border city of Mexicali said. The device was able to fire cylinders packed with up to 30 pounds of pot.

The cannon was discovered Tuesday after U.S. officers told Mexican police that they had been confiscating a large number of drug packages that appeared to have been fired over the border, the Associated Press said.

It's not the first time drug traffickers have used a cannon to transport marijuana across the border. In December, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials recovered more than 30 cans of marijuana scattered in Yuma, Ariz., near the Colorado River.

According to NBC, an investigation of the area "determined that the cans were fired from about 500 feet away with a pneumatic-powered cannon" and that a "carbon-dioxide tank was found nearby."

In that case, the cannon was not found. But Mexican border police said Tuesday that they have confiscated similar devices in recent years.

I wish someone would launch a bale to my house. I better specify to a clear spot in the yard. Whoa.. no bale crashing through the roof or something. .. smiles...
We had a group of guys here that built a car launcher. Now that was a totally non useful activity but fun. They were able to launch an old car several hundred feet with that thing.

They are always coming up with ideas to transport weed across the border.

This reminds me of a tunneling operation they had where they built a tunnel connecting a building in Mexico to a building in Texas for transporting weed.

What will they think of next?

No,

Federal law still illegal, EVEN though two states Washington State and Colorado just passed legalize, but still uphill battle because it is STILL illegal under Federal law.

California legalize ONLY for medical purpose, still feds raids these shops anyway.

thought it was legal in california

Id order some OG Kush, Northern Lights, Chocolope, Skunk, or Big Budda Cheese. Thanks, but now they'd need to build a rocket with a 12,000 miles range and aim for my house , have it program to 'drop parcels on chute" lol
please...

Right brand, wrong model! If had Wrangler Rubicon edition with few inch lift, will make it! That is Cherokee, exact same what we have and I think same model year. For sure 97 or later (Up to 01).

Anyway, this proves that anyone will smuggling anything where there is demand with too much moola in return.

Epic fail! drug smugglers stuck his jeep on border fence.
