407-Pound Woman Denied Flights Home, Dies Abroad

I don't know what would had been the best solution for this case. Should the woman have skipped this overseas trip because her medical condition would've made it too risky? Maybe she wasn't aware of the risks, or the risks were not apparent until she arrived. Or maybe she was aware of the risks...

Studying isn't helping me pass the tests as I want to be...

I also use flashcards and discard the cards as I memorize them so that I end up with a small stack of harder concepts at the end of the week. For articles (15 or less pages) that are difficult to read, I read the article out loud onto a recorder and hear myself read the article a few times...

    Hidden in the walls

Unless his death becomes sensational like MJ... hmmmmm With Al Gore it's hard to tell how much value his stuff has because he did not actually become president. Just VP... I like the "contact a museum" idea.

You cannot succeed running business on texts

texts are on tiny screens, e-mails are on big screens. texts are short, e-mails are long. texts may cost money to send, e-mail is free. texts do not have spam filtering, e-mail does. In general, the public is still more comfortable using speech than typing.

    Hidden in the walls

You could sell it on eBay, but if it's Al Gore stuff, I'd sit on it carefully for another 30-40 years, or until: 1. Al Gore becomes president / UN leader etc. 2. Global Warming is irrefutably disproved 3. Global Warming become a big deal

    Christmas gift

I'm not sure if a doll is a good idea. Does she like bears? Does she like toys? I've found no use for dolls from lovers, so they are thrown away / given to children when possible. Same deal with cards. They're useless afterwards, and they clutter my desk or wall. So I end up throwing them away...

Your opinion on a young woman shaving her head?

If she got a short haircut, the balding problem would become extremely obvious. OP is considering getting a short haircut to make it easier to put on a wig. Also if she gets a few wigs, then she will no longer need to have longer natural hair to hide the balding areas. I don't think the...

    Fake deaf

Because if I tell people I'm hard of hearing, they start shouting :( Unfortunately that doesn't help. I can hear just fine. I just can't understand what is said sometimes.

    Fake deaf

I feel I do fake deafness sometimes but it's not because I want my ears destroyed. It's because people don't get it that I only catch about 25%~80% of what they said. Even if I want to be able to hear them the first time, it's just not going to happen. Such as: Can you make sure to...

Deaf Olympic torchbearer James Clarke refused sign-language help by Fitness First gym

The wording of the article is weird. It should read: Gym refuses to offer interpreter to Deaf Olympian.

Store gives away free groceries after registers stop working

That was a good way to avoid a store riot. I can see 60-70 people doing a lot of damage.. I'm glad the store was able to afford it!

    Adopting Deaf Children

I would seriously consider if I wanted a child in the first place. Maybe you can try babysitting or volunteering at a daycare to get a feel for what a kid is like. Deaf or not deaf, kids will be kids: self-centered, unreasonable, and impulsive. Have you tried having ASL friends instead?

    Petition: Stop killing Deaf dogs

When I saw the title for this thread I was thinking: But what about certain breeds of dogs that have a high rate of deafness like Dalmations? Should people stop breeding them just because they are deaf so that they don't have to be killed off after being born? but then it turns out the whole...

Recovered Titanic jewels to go on display

On one hand, cool. Plus everyone will be reliving their Titanic movie fantasies of either being Jack or Rose by visiting this exhibit. On the other hand, how would I feel if there was a display of all the high quality jewelry recovered from the 9/11 twin towers? eeeeeeeeh I don't think NYC...

    Interesting History

What a different world we live in. Now most people prefer to shower everyday, usually first thing in the morning. And if that wasn't enough, some take it further and slap on a lot of fragrance and deodorant. I say smelling like nothing is the best odor anyone could have.

    Auditory processing disorder

I've been reading up on APD and there seemed to be some kind of hint at APD being related to the attention deficit disorder spectrum, such as ADD and ADHD, both of which you can develop as an adult. I've always been a few seconds slow at laughing at jokes, had trouble making sense out of what...

    Auditory processing disorder

I'm a bit annoyed that so much attention is being given to cases of children with APD, but for adults, there seems to be few resources. Does this mean that one cannot develop APD as an adult? Ah well... best of luck OP. Hope you find the help you need!
