I don't know if it would help in the reverse fashion, but for me, I retain language better if I am able to practice with someone, and keep fresh with different speech patterns and such. Would it possibly help to like skype with someone who can ... I don't know ... type a sentence out and then...

Thank you for the site. I will definitely check it out. I am definitely looking for some ASL geared towards fire/rescue efforts. I am also looking to just learn the language. We have such a great Deaf community in Frederick, and I would love to be able to adequately communicate when I am there...

Yes, 9/11 was very sad, and really affected all firefighters. We all feel pain for our brothers who lost their lives that day. Going to NYC and actually talking to someone who lived through such a thing is amazing. Everyone has a very personal story from that day, just as I'm sure everyone here...

I know a blind guy from Rhode Island who works as a fire dispatcher. Shame the guy you are talking about isn't on here anymore - always glad to meet a fellow firefighter or some such

I work on the fire/rescue side of things in my area, but we do have a subject who just got through his fire and EMS training who wears HAs. He is HoH, but is able to hear what people are saying and understand it without reading lips, etc. He is able to do anything in the field - he even drives...
