    Deaf Parents of Deaf kids

    I don't have kids, but if I ever do had kids and they deaf....... I said maybe, only if THEIR choice want CI and old enough to understand what it means, not copying other people like young kids do. I wouldn't implant my kids, but if they old enough and ask for one, I would let them.

    I agree if your used to one hand makes it easier use ASL fingerspelling. England, Wales and Scotland use same BSL fingerspelling and some signs bit different. Northern Ireland use 1 hand fingerspelling and signs are very different even though they are part of British. If you do go England...

    Lol! I find that if I use ASL fingerspelling after while my hand aches cos it lot of movement for 1 hand. BSL fingerspelling more relax on my hand. Lot of interpreters here in UK know ASL fingerspelling and use it when holding stuff in other hand (drink, food, etc)! Pretty useful!

    What color is your t.v. closed captions letters?

    Don't USA captions on TV change colour for different people speaking? Like howag say above, our TV does and it really useful in case you miss out who is speaking. DVDs in UK are all in one colour, it only happens on TV.

    Right I see. That good. I know ASL alphabet but at slowish speed, no WAY I can read it fast like I see on youtube videos (I can in BSL alphabet)! In BSL alphabet there more difference in letters so can tell apart more easily than ASL alphabet. I am wondering what you think about BSL...

    Hating to use "spoken" English?

    Speaking is hard work. First I have to think what I want to say, then translate that into English, then think how to say words in English, then try to control my volume level (best guess) then say it out loud. Long process, not natural and doesn't come out like THAT, like it for hearing people...

    Deaf children who grew up in the hearing world only

    So true, I nod right time and shake my head right time and I usually can do this by body language of hearing person and face expression. If they look positive side I nod, if they look negative side I shake. I do get timing wrong sometimes but amazed get it right most of time that I don't have...
