    Sign "Amen" in Different Countries

I think it depends on the region. I've signed Amen the Canadian way too. Then again, my signing is nowhere near "correct".

We got snow (I'm not sure how much). It's still snowing. My car doesn't work very well in snow, so I may have to walk everywhere tomorrow :(

    Can hearing buy Sorrensen VP-200????

I know that this is an old thread, but I wanted to share this information for other CODAs who want to buy VP (see the link): The ZStore Online - videophones and z-branded apparel. Hearing can FINALLY buy a VP. However... there are some things hearing should know before buying the VP. Read...

    Raising deaf children

That is so cool that you are teaching your kids about ASL and Deaf culture. I grew up in an all Deaf house (I am hearing), but when I was a kid everyone focused on me learning English so that I could fit into the hearing world. Then I had to go live with hearing family who don't know anything...

    Suicide app on Facebook

I thought that this was just some other fad, but the link is actually talking about "unfriending" people and going to live real life. It's an app that lets people cancel their accounts forever so that they don't spend all of their time on the internet. I think it's a useful app. I just wish...

I just started learning ASL. Its been amazing.

I'm still confused as to what Ghana's official spoken language being English has to do with their signed languages. For instance, England's language is predominately English. However, the signed language used there is called British Sign Language (BSL) which does not resemble American Sign...

    English... UGH!

There is a system that has been developed by Dr. Sam Supalla, Dr. Jodi Cripps, Dr. Laura Blackburn, and a few other people that is an effective gloss system so that Deaf people can read and understand English. It gets rid of phonics and focuses on the visual. I'm actually not very familiar with...

    Your beginning ASL experiences

I grew up with both ASL and English. I was a naive kid. I didn't give much thought to them being different. I guess I just thought that everyone could voice and everyone could sign. I do remember thinking that grown-ups had a mysterious grown-up talk language that I wasn't supposed to know. (You...

    BSL Name

I think I should learn the BSL manual alphabet. I noticed that Germany uses an alphabet similar to ASL, though. I was excited to see so many similar signs between German Sign Language and ASL. I want to learn more about Deaf people all over the world. I also want to go to the DeafNation expo. I...
