Intensive BSL course | Level 2 in 2 weeks!!!

This course is really intensive and with the homework, the days are long. After four days I'm exhausted!!! Only another 10 days to go... The great thing is that another two Deaf students have joined the class. It's like being in a mini-Deaf club and I love the exposure to all the different...

Intensive BSL course | Level 2 in 2 weeks!!!

I know when I did my BSL Level 1, I would start to do my homework and realise that I've forgotten how to do a sign correctly, but wasn't able to be reminded until I next went into class (I don't know any Deaf people to ask in the meantime and YouTube is very unreliable). So I knew in advance the...

Intensive BSL course | Level 2 in 2 weeks!!!

Today I've started a Level 2 course in BSL. It's an intensive two week course that meets every day (including Sat & Sun). I can't wait to get stuck in and deepen my knowledge of sign language. When I've completed this course I should be able to have a limited conversation with Deaf people at...

    Scientifict thoughts: Time and gravity

My recollection was that the explanation for this was that the energy burst immediately after the big bang was ever so slightly "uneven" and these minor variations snowballed over time to create the different building blocks of matter we now have. I have a vague memory of a physicist describing...

Pics of you - Part V

I've been on AD for a few months now, but haven't posted a pic until now. I though I'd better show you one of my more flattering ones... Bet you didn't know that zombies suffer from hearing loss as well :giggle:

    lose a body function

Voted for hair as the easiest... Whoops! Lost it already  I don't know how to answer what would be the worse thing to lose as it reveals more about my fears and prejudice than anything else. Think of how many hearing people who say that losing their hearing would be a complete and utter...

    Scientifict thoughts: Time and gravity

This thread bought back memories... I used to love theoretical physics and spent hours thinking about subjects discussed above. Reading this thread made me realise how rusty I am now. Responding to the OP, I don't think "time is created by gravity". My recollection is that it's all to do with...

I'm a great fan of Studio Ghibli films as well and collect all their DVDs. Just ordered the Arrietty DVD a few days ago and waiting for it to arrive.

Is there a product that dictates real time conversations?

There is also a Google app (Google Translate) that converts voice to text. Somebody here on AD has posted details about it. http://www.alldeaf.com/deaf-products-technologies/94402-google-translate-mobile.html And there's an Android app called Closed cApp Closed cAPPtioned - Closed captions...

If you could live in any time period, which one and why??

I'd actually like to live a few centuries into the future seeing all the new stuff we've learnt & created by then (providing the human race hasn't killed itself by then!)

    Sherlock

Saw the latest episode of the BBC modern day Sherlock. It was based on The Hound of Baskerville story. As usual it was brilliant stuff. The writers are very good at putting a modern twist on the classic Sherlock Holmes stories.

Forgotten title of Sci Fi movie

The remake was nowhere near as good as the original IMO

    Sherlock

I'm a big big big big fan of this modern take on Sherlock. I cannot recommend it too highly. I re-watched this series more than any other TV programme last year and it is one of those TV programmes where you pick up additional stuff from re-watching. The second series has started here in the UK...

    bit of a rant..

Plus a girl that is as attractive as you shouldn't have any problems getting a better BF. Keep talking yourself up so you'll won't be prepared to take that kind of sh*t. He needs to know there's consequences to bad behaviour.
