I agree that it's disgraceful that in the process of putting old films onto DVD, that they can't be bothered to CC/subtitle them. I cannot believe it's not illegal under some disability discrimination law. Nevermind the fact that old films are more likely to be watched by older people, who are...

It is a good question. I've been thinking about getting a CI but I don't want "the sensation of sound" - I want to be able to hear speech clearly and follow a fast flowing conversation with a group of friends. Until I can do that, I can't interact properly with my friends.

I know a Deaf friend who has trained her cats to sign when they're hungry instead of meiowing.

Used to until my hearing loss dropped to profound levels (>90dB). Thank goodness for texting, & even emails on smartphones

My son loves this movie. It makes me chuckle too. Last night I watched 'The Darjeeling Limited' by Wes Anderson (who also did 'The Royal Tenebaums'). I really enjoyed this film as I like films which are quirky and have a wry sense of humour.

Watched 'Shutter Island'. I guessed very early on how it was going to pan out so the ending failed to shock or surprise me. Not Martin Scorsese's best film IMO.

I was born deaf but was never DEAF (i.e. no ability to hear sound at all) nor Deaf (i.e sign language user) as I was only exposed to oral language while growing up. Recently my hearing loss increased and I was pushed out of the hearing world so I feel like a late-deafened.
