My chicken is ill | Excuse used by support worker

This is a "My chicken is ill" spoof subtitled version of Hitler losing his rag that you've probably seen used for other variations. I loved the bit where the soldier says everything is running "like cluckwork" and "the danger spots for chicken crossing roads are here and there"! :laugh2...

    Last Movie You Watched?

A friend of mine interviewed Sam Childers when he was promoting this film as well as reading his book. My friend found it to be a harrowing story.

    Sherlock

I agree that it's disgraceful that in the process of putting old films onto DVD, that they can't be bothered to CC/subtitle them. I cannot believe it's not illegal under some disability discrimination law. Nevermind the fact that old films are more likely to be watched by older people, who are...

    My audiogram with the CI

It is a good question. I've been thinking about getting a CI but I don't want "the sensation of sound" - I want to be able to hear speech clearly and follow a fast flowing conversation with a group of friends. Until I can do that, I can't interact properly with my friends.

Cat knows to get attention and sign "eat"

I know a Deaf friend who has trained her cats to sign when they're hungry instead of meiowing.

    Cued speech for adults?

Hi RoseRodent. I don't know you, but reading this thread and your comments that remained gave me the impression that you suffer a huge amount of distress and shame when you make a mistake in front of people. This must be very painful for you and that level of anguish will not be easily removed...

HOH men...how to approach girls to talk to or ask out on a date?

As a HOH man who dated and then married a hearing lady, I used the friendship route. Not as a cynical pick-up tactic - I'm just not comfortable going up to strangers and trying to hit on them. Rather it helped women to see who I really was and gave them time to decide whether they'd like spend...

    Last Movie You Watched?

My son loves this movie. It makes me chuckle too. Last night I watched 'The Darjeeling Limited' by Wes Anderson (who also did 'The Royal Tenebaums'). I really enjoyed this film as I like films which are quirky and have a wry sense of humour.

    Hard of hearing, need advice

I've never found anything that works 100% for large groups. The best solution I've come across is an assistive listening device that wirelessly connects to a number of remote microphones. The closer the microphone is to someone, the better sound quality. I once had a set up that used three...

    Last Movie You Watched?

Watched 'Shutter Island'. I guessed very early on how it was going to pan out so the ending failed to shock or surprise me. Not Martin Scorsese's best film IMO.

Probation likely for busted TCU players

This reminds me of a scene in the film "Garden State" where Mark tells Largeman during a mystery tour that if he was simply looking for drugs he would have taken them to the football practice hours ago.

lots of feedback with hearing aids

My HAs are more powerful, but I always get some feedback when I put my hands close to my ears - even if my earmolds are new.

Is "Deaf from Birth" a Minority Around Here?

I was born deaf but was never DEAF (i.e. no ability to hear sound at all) nor Deaf (i.e sign language user) as I was only exposed to oral language while growing up. Recently my hearing loss increased and I was pushed out of the hearing world so I feel like a late-deafened.

    Last Movie You Watched?

Martha Marcy May Marlene Last night I watched 'Martha Marcy May Marlene' at the cinema (first time I've been for ages - usually wait for DVD). It's a strange film with a non-ending like 'Limbo'. Quite unsettling to watch. A lot of stuff just happens with no explanation so you have to work it...
