CC- now you see it, now you don't???

I am not sure what you mean by bust box. If you mean cable box, then I don't think it will help because it will still use the same CC decoder inside the TV. It's not necessarily dishonest when selling new TV with broken CC. I am sure 99% of hearing people do not use CC so I wouldn't worry...

CC- now you see it, now you don't???

If you have two TVs and BOTH are connected exactly the same manner and CC works in one TV but not the other, then you have deduced it properly that the cause may come from the TV. Depends on what your TV is worth brand new, it may be cheaper to buy a new one than get it repaired. If the TV is...

    Warner Bros must have subtitled/CC

I felt it was rude of you to tell someone to get a job. Or in many other posts, you call many people stupid. I was trying to make a point about how you would feel if others making rude comments toward you. I understand you were questioning directly to CCFan, but that does not give you the right...

    Warner Bros must have subtitled/CC

Has it occurred to you that not everyone make as much money as you do? Plus your grammer is not as good as CCFan. Please be diplomatic in the future. This forum is all about helping others, not making rude remarks to others. Thanks.

    Cox Commcation upgrade DVR problem!!

I think you are correct. I keep forgeting cable companies do not have to comply with FCC deadline of killing NTSC by Feb 2009. The article RHR provided did not mention the FCC deadline date. I am very skeptical of COX cable promising 100 HDTV by next year. The article says it will use...

    Cox Commcation upgrade DVR problem!!

Thanks for the clarification. I understand now. It looks like COX is running some experiments. HDTV is still work in progress and we will continue to see HDTV problems from time to time as they continue to try to improve their service. Peter

    Cox Commcation upgrade DVR problem!!

RHR, Your original post says that DVR cable box used to output in 480i and after the upgrade, it outputs in 1080i. You stated that CC was too small at 1080i and wanted to go back to 480i. I do not quite understand your last statement. 480i is NOT HDTV. 720p or 1080i is HDTV. The picture...

    Cox Commcation upgrade DVR problem!!

Were you able to find the DVR menu setup to change font size? It has to be there. Peter

    Cox Commcation upgrade DVR problem!!

It's the DVR where you can resize the fonts, not the TV. I do not have cable box DVR, but hopefully the DVR will provide options for you to change font size through menu setup. Resizing fonts in TV is for ATSC antenna only. Peter

HDTV Captioning: What You Should Know

Thank you Pacman for providing TV information. I dug deeper and could not find anything about your TV related to CC and component video signal. But I found valuable information about other TVs like Mitsubishi LT46131 or LT46231 which is a very high end 46" LCD TV. I downloaded the manual...

HDTV Captioning: What You Should Know

For those who cannot get analog CC via component cables using 480i, please provide brand and model number of your TV. I would like to check them out. Generally speaking, TVs with built-in analog CC decoder should be able to display CC at 480i or lower. It should not matter what external...

HDTV Captioning: What You Should Know

CC at 480p does NOT work with my DVD player. Only 480i works like you said. I am sorry if I mislead you or my statement was not clear. I have a three year old Samsung DVD player with component and DVI out. It was one of the first DVD player to offer DVI out at the time. I am at work so I...

HDTV Captioning: What You Should Know

I think I am beginning to understand your issue. I was not aware you were using XBox to play DVD movies. Component specification includes both 480i and 480p. I am not famailiar with XBox, but it seems the setup for DVD player in XBox does not allow you to set component output to 480i. Do you...

HDTV Captioning: What You Should Know

RHR is correct. Component can either be 480i and 480p. For example, in order to watch analog CC from DVD player using component cables, you have to set the component output of DVD player to non-progressive (interlace) via on-screen Menu setup screen of DVD player. At least that's how my DVD...

HDTV Captioning: What You Should Know

That depends how you look at it. If Cable or Satellite Box has DVI or HDMI out, digital CC can be displayed by external source if the boxes support digital CC. I have noticed lately that newer cable or satellite boxes output digital CC via DVI and HDMI. TVs do not have to have built-in digital...

Plan to buy HDTV? Please be careful cuz of CC

Are you referring to ATSC (digital/HD) or NTSC (analog) CC. For ATSC, you can change font sizes and styles but for NTSC, the font size or style are always the same. Sony should have very good CC decoders in their TVs. They keep updating their electronics to latest specifications. Sony is...

I need buy DVD Player for 1080i or 1080p with CC

It is NOT HD-DVD, only Blu-Ray. Good luck on waiting for price to drop for combo HD-DVD/Blu-Ray. I believe LG is the only company that makes HD-DVD/Blu-Ray combo player but it's very pricey (Retail $1300). http://us.lge.com/products/model/detail/tv|audio|video_digital%20video__BH100.jhtml...
