Interpreters are people too. Yes, of course they have name signs. They probably don't come up during work, because there is no need to refer to the interpreter, but they are used when discussing the person outside of a working situation, just like any other person with a sign name.

I'm not sure what you're asking about. Are you talking about mouth morphemes, which are a natural part of ASL, or are you talking about mouthing words for people who prefer to lipread in addition to viewing the signs?

I do turn it off if I'm watching a sporting event and it's very badly delayed. I don't need the captions to tell me what's happening with sports. Otherwise I just watch something else if I don't like the captions being behind.

Soft foam plugs only give you about 30 dB hearing loss from normal, depending on the brand it might be a little more or a little less. So she was not having THAT difficult a time hearing. The article said moderate hearing loss and that's exactly what it was...not DEAF for a day!

I agree - lengthening the STUDY sign indicates "for a long time" but doesn't specify when you are doing it. OVERNIGHT or WILL specify the when, not the how long.

Usually in that situation you just give them the phone number of a local interpreting agency or a freelance interpreter that you know. Because they are the ones paying, they have to make the appointment with the interpreter or agency. The law doesn't specify how they FIND the interpreter, only...

The problem here is that Canada does not have access to VRS unless they are calling someone in USA. That is the big issue.
