    Hello

I have been studying and practicing daily for years, and continue to do so. At this point I just have to laugh at my beyond slow progress. When I get really frustrated I remind myself that even if it is slower than slow, it is progress. I will never progress with voice communication, only...

    Hello

Hi Wislady, I am 60 and HOH in the last 10+ years due to many possible causes, and maybe Meniere's also. I don't know if I will ever get really proficient, especially fluently, but I am immersing myself into learning ASL because at least it is more fun and more hopeful to not quite...

    Students Looking for ASL buddies

Wow, That other call was my Deaf ASL tutor who had seen my Google+ light on. We signed for over 45 minutes! I guess I'm making progress but my being able to 'catch' fingerspelling is not improving at all, even with the lifeprint fingerspelling practice tool and signing with others. My brain...

The new version has many more signs, videos, info and more modern signs. I get mine today. Between that and the RIT online dictionary and videos, I hope to finally have more clarity.

    True ASL dictionaries

I emailed them and now trying out the online version for two days. It is fantastic! There have been many versions of signs that my tutor uses that I've not found online before. I am finding them on this site. So easy and clear! Highly recommended!!!

    True ASL dictionaries

I just checked out the 'American Sign Language Video Dictionary and Inflection Guide' after reading about it in this thread. I went to the RIT page, RIT - NTID - ASL Video Dictionary and Inflection Guide, and there is an Iphone app for $1.99. There is also an Android app on the way and the web...

I'm wishing for the following resource...

Do you know what edition yours is, Reba? I'm sure I won't find many signs I'm looking for but even with many online ASL dictionaries, if I'm lucky enough to find the word I'm looking for it is signed very different from how my Deaf tutor signs it. It get's so confusing! Hopefully the signs...

Hi Amylynne, I just found your reply after ordering that book yesterday. I decided to go ahead and spend the money because it has a DVD that comes with it of.... 1900 signed words! This should help lots! There were several editions though. I picked the most recent one with 300+ new signs...

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

Hi Patricia, I went through this with my Granddaughter. One time when she really showed bad attitude and rudeness about my not hearing her, I made her wear my heavy-duty woodworking hearing protector muffs for several hours. That was a huge reality check for her. I talked to her and she...

I'm wishing for the following resource...

Does anyone know of any books/sites/learning tools that offer a way of looking up an actual sign seen in a Deaf video or ASL conversation to discover the meaning? I know, it does seem very far-fetched. I sure could use something like that though! Maybe if there was a dictionary that grouped...
