    I disagree in movie theater!

Sometimes the sound is loud enough my brother feels it in his chest. You can imagine I need to cover my ears. It would be awesome to have that kind of theater, or even just open captioning everywhere--but it's all a matter of economics. Theaters shouldn't be forced by the gov't to do these...

    Deaf vs. hearing

    1. What differences do you see in the Deaf world and the hearing world? Probably the same as others have said. Deaf culture seems to be more blunt, but also more cliquish 2. Do you feel there are any differences in the way the Deaf and the hearing think? Do they come from different...

Who is your favorite U.S. President?

Read the whole thing--the part about vivisection on women and children. But that you can be so amused at the war crimes is stunning. And sad.

HDTV messes up service for deaf

If a television has a tuner (NTSC or ATSC) it must have closed captioning. I've not seen one without unless it's a MONITOR. Meaning--no tuner, just like an HDTV-READY monitor. So long as it can tune channels from over the air or cable, it should be okay.

Star Trek Fan Films - Subtitles

I didn't know that about the negatives, but it explains why things are looking so much better. I can't wait for it to be in high-def. I assume they're release them on those formats for a lot of money, but it may just be worth it.

Who is your favorite U.S. President?

Harry Truman decided to use our first atomic weapon to avoid having to have to invade Japan, which would have killed MANY MANY more people. Millions were not killed. About 220,000 or so, if memory serves. At the time it was believed that had we had to invade them to stop the Pacific...

Jimmy Carter blasts George W. on his global impact

Carter has damaged his image, not enhanced it. Take a look: Adviser to Jimmy Carter resigns in dispute over book on Palestinians and apartheid - Americas - International Herald Tribune FrontPage magazine.com :: The Real Jimmy Carter by Alan M. Dershowitz FrontPage magazine.com :: Our...

Jimmy Carter blasts George W. on his global impact

Then why when he's reading from a prepaired text off a teleproptor does he tend NOT to make verbal mistakes, but when talking off the cuff he does? That doesn't add up. I see no evidence he has a learning DA or a problem reading.

Jimmy Carter blasts George W. on his global impact

Heh. Hillary will never be president. Just not going to happen. Her negatives are far too high, even in the Democrat party.

    Fitting Into The Deaf Community...

My brother and I tried to attend a deaf club in Flint, MI once--they told us that he could join, but I could not, because I was hearing. We left. I think it's their loss (not about me, really, but that they're roping themselves off from those hearies that sign).

Jimmy Carter blasts George W. on his global impact

Bush isn't unintelligent (though he obviously has some speaking problems more than other politicians) but people like to paint political foes as being unintelligent. Reagan, Ford, Eisenhower, all were said to be stupid or simple. Hardly the truth. Bush's problems have been many, and I don't...

    Why Deaf films failed?[VID]

Well, he's very passionate, for sure. I understand what he's saying, but I assume part of the problem is that most deaf films would--if totally with deaf actors and such--perhaps be a niche film. So you're talking about basically, what is to most hearing people, a "foreign langauge" film in...

Jimmy Carter blasts George W. on his global impact

Well, I'm not sure we can directly blame him for that, but he did have terrible economic policy. Reagan had his flaws, but he saved this country's economy by lowering tax rates. (Under Reagan, the gov't brought in MORE money on lower RATES, because people made more so it was taxed more.)

    My Hook-Up

I've asked him if he'd ever like to try it again--I assume he could get a new external that would work with his internal implant. He has no interest. Why waste the time? He'd much rather work toward his masters degree in education. :) (My question to him, by the way, was one of curiosity--I...
