Report it to the FCC. Here's how: Go to this form: https://esupport.fcc.gov/sform2000/formC!input.action?form_page=2000C Don't be anonymous. Put down your real information. Then state, clearly, for the record, what happened (suspicion or proof of installer copying your Sorenson VP...

About to start research on speech recognition

It is very challenging, but hopefully it'll be rewarding too. You'll probably also wants to take some classes in lingusitics and phonetics. Speech recognition is great for recognizing unique words, but words that sound alike, or said in various ways, or depend on context for meaning, are all...

New TyTN II in T-Mobile - Video Calls?

The processor speed on the TyTn II isn't really powerful enough to run 15-30 frames per second of 2-way video. It needs to be double the current 400mhz to be effective, at the cost of decreased battery life.

Confirmation: Captioned Telephone works on iPhone! (Sprint WebCapTel)

Worked fine for me, though it wasn't always reliable. Sometimes the phone rang and it worked perfectly, others the WebCapTel prog went to voicemail. It's not as user friendly as I would like it to be, but it's the first time I've seen one mobile phone being used for telephone captions and...

iPhone 3G compatible with WebCapTel? (www.SprintCapTel.com)

I'll see if I can get it working out where I am. I did a test call the other day following Mark's instructions and it didn't ring the iPhone. The phone did say 3G, but I've had phones not ring before when waiting for WebCapTel calls -- it's the nature of cell phones. Will try again.

    TTY vs TDD

TTY is the telephone industry acceptable term. It's because not only deaf people use it -- people with speech difficulties use TTY's as well. They're not deaf.

    GoAmerica Relay Services

Please, please, please do us all a big favor: Tell the FCC. Ed’s Telecom Alert » How To File Comments to the FCC And also, heck, tell Ed Bosson himself, as he's a deaf person in a position of relevance and has publicly stated that he believes GoAmerica is doing such a great job: Ed’s...

Sprint IP Wireless for Treo 700WX?

I thought I heard it being discontinued. As in, no longer supported, or that in the future, SprintIP on AIM was the way to use it.

Tampa sued to collect on 147-year-old promissory note worth millions

The city of Tampa was disbanded in 1869. The entity that paid the note no longer exists. You cannot sue what doesn't exist.

    ExoriaX, The Gamer

Actually, funny thing about SOCOM is that my buddy and I set up a VP connection so we could see each other on video on another TV while playing. It's simultaenously cool and funny -- I've died a few times looking away trying to understand what he's saying. Needs a picture in picture mode...

    Go to college, Galladuet University

Dude, just go to any college -- Gallaudet is just one college of many, and really, you should be going to college to get an education, not just for fun and meeting other deaf people. I'd hate to see you go and then drop out because you spent too much time socializing. GRADUATE!

    Microsoft to acquire Danger, INC

What? It is actually possible to hack a Danger phone. In fact, they did it way back in 2004! secret sidekick applications - Hack a Day Sidekick’s Dirty Little Secret at intarweb-master and more. As for Sidekick/Danger OS continuing... we'll have to wait and see.

    Microsoft to acquire Danger, INC

I have a hard time seeing Microsoft making Danger BETTER. So, I'm concerned... unless they keep them independent somehow.

Anyone Know Deaf Attending Public Colleges?

See, based on your definition, the ONLY college that would be disqualified is Gallaudet. Every OTHER college out there has far more hearing people than deaf. RIT: 10,000 hearing, 1000 deaf CSUN: 30,000 hearing, 250 deaf and so on.

    Sprint PC data cards.

The only thing I know is that the online store website is Sprint Relay Store. On the other hand, when I went there and clicked on the phone page, it looks like they do still sell EVDO cards. Sprint Relay Store: Wireless Devices

    new Viable videophone at CES

I don't see anything about bluetooth on this. Viable can't give people an incentive to use their VRS to get something free. It's against the law, and Viable would lose money if they did something like that. That's why HOVRS no longer gives their "brown bag" free VRS rewards, or why Sorenson...

Anyone Know Deaf Attending Public Colleges?

Define "public college" - I mean, CSUN is a public college, but has a significant deaf population. So.... clarify, please? It think you mean colleges that do NOT have well-established services for the deaf, which to me would include Gallaudet, RIT/NTID, CSUN, ASU, and maybe a few others.

CA Deaf SSI Recipients - No COLA's For You!

While it's sad that it's being cut, at the same time I was never on SSI, and while I struggled to make ends meet while in college, I ended up being a lot more fiscally responsible as a result. So, I'm not going to shed a tear over people losing that money. Too many people I knew were spending...
