    A lot of deaf people actually still use TTY's some people have TTY's that are voice carry over phones/captioned phones all in one. But definitely not obsolete..

    I don't really consider myself late deafened since I lost my hearing in my teens although technically I am "late" deafened...anywho I started ASL and LOVE it....can't believe what I'm missing out on..wish I would have started it earlier so I could have had terps in school instead of using just CART!

    Welcome to AD. It's never too late to learn ASL. If you do a class you can practice with others and find Deaf events in your area to go to as well.
