Hi.

My name is Frank. I work for the customer care center of Konica-Minolta. Recently, I was assigned to make sure our TTY system is working.

Now I realize that TTY is pretty much an obsolete system, but I need some help so I thought to come here.

Is there a phone number that I can use to just test the TTY system we have set up?

and

Since TTY is obsolete, what system is being used in it's place?

Thank you in advance for your help and attention.

Frank

How's everything working out? If you still need help with testing your TTY system, I'd be glad to make a call to make sure that it's working properly. In your next post, just leave the TTY number and let me know what's the best time to call you. I am in Pacific time.

Well, as for TTY being obsolete, some of us including me still have the TTY at home as a back-up while we mostly use VP (videophone) or a computer/mobile device w/ a webcam to contact a hearing person at a voice number through VRS (Video Relay Service) which requires a high speed internet. Some of us can't afford a high speed internet so we still use a TTY instead of VP. As for wireless service, do you provide a mobile number (for us to text you) for business use? Most of the businesses don't.

A lot of deaf people actually still use TTY's some people have TTY's that are voice carry over phones/captioned phones all in one. But definitely not obsolete..
