What was the last movie you watched?

Watched 'It's A Wonderful Life' with my kids. Even though it's in black & white, lacks CGI, and there's no action or explosions - my kids loved it. Goes to show that if you have a good story with characters you can root for, then you don't need fancy 3D glasses to grip the minds of our youngsters.

    5 favorite all time books?

This is a hard one to answer. So many fantastic books have shaped my life in helpful ways, gripped my emotions, enriched my imagination and made my life richer & more enjoyable. Ask me tomorrow and this list will probably be different, but these five books have made a big impact on me in...

    Manga/anime

I enjoy anime films but haven't got into reading manga. The last couple of years I've attended a comic convention where loads of people dress as characters from anime and other films (mainly sci-fi). My daughter loves Studio Ghibli films and we've watched every single one together apart from...

    Apple won court against Samsung!!

I don't think Apple would have given permission to Samsung even if Samsung pays an absolute fortune in royalties. Not saying it is right to copy, but there is a problem of companies using patents to block innovation of rivals.

    Getting new hearing aids?

I've never seen ITE HAs available on the NHS (not saying they're not, just that I've never seen them in all the years I've attended NHS audiology clinics). I have seen some small BTE ones though with very small ear molds. (also see in this link Hearing Impairment (Deafness) - Treatment - NHS...

    Vibrating Alarm Clocks & Mattresses?

Like some of the above posters, I prefer to put the vibrating pad inside the pillowcase rather than under the mattress which cancels out the danger of the mattress absorbing the vibrations

Poor Sleep Heightens 'Ringing Ear' Disease Symptoms: Study

My own experience matches what this scientific study claims. The noise levels on my tinnitus does go and down, and it always gets louder when I'm suffering badly from insomnia.

What Song Are You Listening To?

This is a song that I've been listening too recently. I've listened to several different versions and have decided that Nancy Sinatra's one is my favourite though it was written by Sonny Bono and first sung by Cher. Nancy Sinatra Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) Lyrics - YouTube

    anyone know British Sign Language?

I'm currently learning BSL from a Deaf BSL teacher which is the best way to learn. I don't know if you are able to stream BBC programmes in the US, but I like to watch BBC programmes (the UK's major TV station) that provide both subtitles and a BSL interpreter in the corner. By simultaneously...

    All Deaf ranking.....

It's probably for the best that the other forum has been set up. I can see that many folks here are happier as a result and I'm sure that folks over there are happier too. A win-win situation :D

    'Hearie' and 'Deafie'...offensive??

I don't find either terms offensive myself, but I can see how some people may be offended. In my own experience, only one person I know has told me they were offended and that was a hearing person. Also it was interesting that the hearing person wasn't offended by deaf people being called...
