I have to say I think the whole "them" and "us" thing is silly. Granted people may have some axes to grind or have long-term issues with certain members (and yes, that goes both ways) but, really? Adult members of two forums keeping tabs on each other by doing what basically comes down to 'spying' on each other? I just don't get it. Like Tousi (and others), I visit both forums. Why? Because I enjoy not only the majority of members of both but also because I enjoy the varying viewpoints of both. If I had an issue with one forum or another, I would not lurk around looking for ways to insult or cut them down - that is no better than what politicians do during campaigns and we all know how productive that is.

As for repeat posts on both forums ... again, really? If a topic on forum A interested me and I wanted to hear various feedback on it, I would not hesitate to take the topic to forum B to acquire more response. To me that is no different than discussing something at work and then bringing that topic to my friends later to see what they had to say. I hardly think either my co-workers or my friends would raise their eyebrows and think of it as "topic thievery".

Just my 2 cents ...

Nobody stopping no one from visiting any sites. We have our preferences. All viewpoints can still be shared here without the need for hyperventilating and accusations.

Topic thievery? Where in the heck did that come from?? Sounds ridiculous.

I don't visit the other site at all. Not interested. Like you I like a lot of the people who left and enjoyed chatting debating with many of them. But the fact of the matter is Alex poured a lot of effort and money into AD and this site has always been fair to both sides. Many of those that left were people who called Alex friend to his face. To me that is just not cool and personally I chose not to associate with people like that. If they will turn their back on a person they called friend what will they do to people they don't know in real life? AD is fun for us but it is a business. Alex created a site that was inclusive. That is a tough thing to do. I have said often I don't begrudge people who visit both sites, but as for me, Alex has my full support.

Yes it is silly, that is the point. Does it really matter if forums share, borrow or repeat topics? Does it matter if one forum has more traffic than the other?

Txgolfer, I respect your feelings of loyalty. As I said, there are some members that have had long-standing issues with others, issues that I have not been around long enough to fully understand (nor do I care to). My point is that continuing to make threads or posts that only serve to further the divide between "us" and "them" are counterproductive on the whole - regardless of whether one personally supports us, them, neither or both.

Doesn't matter how topics are brought up. Anybody who think it's "topic thievery" is simply losing it.

Good point.

it is not a bad site at all IMHO. It is new, it will grow, gaining more members that identify with the sites' philosophy.

I prefer a site where I can post a bit more at my comfort level. outrageous and at times offensive, are more of what I prefer. so going to have to keep looking or create one. :cool2:

I certainly wish them all the best. There is most definitely a niche out there for drama, bitterness and personal attacks. In fact it's popular on the internet these days. Some enjoy that, but I don't miss it here.

It's a free country. I'll say it again, if people think they can build a better mouse trap, go for it.

Indeed.

that can get old. I would still like a site with more of almost anything-goes-free-for-all-chaos and a fair amount of gorgeous-deaf-girls-go-wild like the original DM was. :naughty:
unfortunately lightning doesn't strike twice

well at least tumblr is fun

Were you around when we had all the hyperventilating going on? I hadn't seen you until just recently until this month.

It's probably for the best that the other forum has been set up. I can see that many folks here are happier as a result and I'm sure that folks over there are happier too. A win-win situation :D

there are too many forums all over and split into many forums for good reasons, just not because of this one. so my best suggestion, is for you whose talks about this over and over, why dont you move on and be a positive vibe. :D

Have you noticed that they have their own thread on "tipping" as well?

Still trying to figure out what happened here that made them create another site....

So what? i am the one who created the tipping thread. Out there forums are all over it about the tip threads too. what seems to be the problem ? same thing is that you still went over there too. :cool2:

it does not matter why the sites have been made and it is not the first time. you silly.

Yes, happier. Yet the same thing happened with deaftv when members did a "mass exodus" and created ASLrocks (which failed miserably due to it's own internal problems), and then later Deafcube. The reason for the leaving was for ideological reasons as well as political in order to "self-segregate," so to speak, only because at first they couldn't exert their own control over the owners. And made wild accusations in the process, too. I feel bad for the owners who had to go through that.

Too many forums? I don't think so. More choices to choose from. People are free to use their creativity, resources, and time to create their own forums. If they want to try their hands on it, then who to say they can't?
