Gosh, firstdaughter. You view your son with clear eyes in some ways. Are there any autism support groups for parents of adult children available to you? The challenge you face is a tough one. Hugs.

ASL should be taught to school children as a second language, am i right?

It should be offered, at least. Progressive school systems on the west coast offer Mandarin and Japanese, as well. French is a great language with not many speakers, relative to others. That problem applies to ASL as well but the advantages to brain/intelligence development are outstanding.

Looking for powerful hearing aid for profound loss

Opticon Alta Pro P works pretty well for me. It amplifies just short of a level that begins to damage whatever hearing remains.

Yes, but I got to repeat it often to call my dad until 2008, after which I started incorporating it in passwords. Dead number- who remembers but me and sibs?

There are 2.7 million people in Chicago so 6000 deaf people is .2% of the population. You have to really make a point of running into one another.

Anyone experienced loneliness and anxiety being hoh or deaf?

Definitely I lack friends and feel isolated. I get very frustrated that people cannot take the time to learn to communicate with me. When my hearing was normal I had tons of friends and was very social. Now I find friends in books.

    Demi-sexual

The only thing I've ever been interested in about a person's sexuality is if they happen to be interested in ME. Then I get to decide how I feel about it.
