I have researched for a while now, and I have found Speak N' Read and other similiar products. Speak N' Read runs about $3,500. Is there something like this for cheaper? If not, does anyone own a Speak N' Read who I could ask some questions about it? Thanks!

Simply ask him to write it down or finger spell it.

I can understand finger spelling at a normal speed but I definitely need to practice ASL a lot more. I hope I can become fluent eventually. She said she would like that but I know she would mostly rather communicate verbally.

Yes, I have already learned finger spelling and basic phrases in ASL. I use a website that has an ASL dictionary with video and it is helping me out a lot!
