I don't knkow why hearing people have such a problem with captions. I'm hearing and I LOVE captions! Sometimes people mumble or someone I'm watching TV with starts talking or some other distraction. Plus, it's much easier to remember a good quote if I read it as opposed to just hearing it.

My deaf boyfriend is an ASL teacher. The problem he has is people signing in class while he's trying to teach. People talking isn't much of a problem (it's an advanced class,) but in the beginner class there were a lot of bewildered students whispering what they were signing, which is terrible...

Here's a question. Is it rude for deaf people to watch hearing people's lips when they're engaged in conversation? In the same way, how is it rude for hearing people to watch deaf people sign?

Maybe I have some weird, unheard-of disease, but I love fingerspelling and do it all the time! I've always been a good speller, and I love the way the handshapes just flow together sometimes, like in the word "numbers."
