if you had a "friend" who left you because you became deaf or hoh or for any other reason you didn't really lose anything because you never had it. a real friend would stick by you no matter what.

nothing wrong with signing up for one class. if you don't have money right now...which i dont....look at this site. they have lessons and such online for free. it's pretty good. ? ASL ? American Sign Language or ASLPro.com Home also, you can pick up books/computer software/dvds at half priced...

you can also go to the mall and get free makeovers...strike up a conversation with the make up artist and find out that way. each person might use different colors so it may give you ideas.

i'm new to ASL as well. i picked up signing for dummies and it focuses on ASL. so far it's really interesting and i like how it is laid out. where are you from? maybe we could set up a practice chat or something

not all texans are annoying as hell. i'm originally from WI, but moved to TX when i was 7.

this feedback personally helps me feel more confident. i know fingerspelling and a few greetings phrases so i would definitely like to learn more myself before i go...but it's nice to know what the events are like for people learning ASL.

i'm having a lot of fun learning. i don't have a lot of cash, but i went to half priced books today and got signing for dummies because it came with a cdrom and i got a sign language dvd. i find that i'm fingerspelling anything and everything

thank you so much! everyone has been very helpful. i will definitely have to get those books. i notice i'm not closing my eyes as much but i will make sure to try in front of the mirror. the last thing i want to do is create a bad habit. :) i mostly speak when i do it in front of my boyfriend...

i'm just learning asl, as of yesterday, so i close my eyes when i fingerspell or i speak when i sign (the few phrases i know) is that considered rude?
