Thank you for everyone's input. I intend to use it as a literacy tool not as a communication device during language arts lessons. We will continue to communicate through the child's primary means of communication which is primarily ASL.

I am bimodal. I use a oticon chili hearing aid and the cochlear implant. I absolutely love it. It takes a great deal of time, patience and perseverance to make it all work. After two years of training and listening I am able to score a 96% on the word discrimination test in the audiologists...

my advice is to download the speech banana on an audiogram. You will then be better able to determine which sounds your son would be able to detect based on his audiogram with his hearing aids. Keep in mind that because he can detect sound doesn't mean he will be able to produce it. Hope this...
