    Sign for Olympics?

I use the 8 hand shape link three times for Olympics.

    Teaching Fiancee Sign?

I'm always correcting Laura (my fiancee). There was a funny experience once. I was teaching her and her sister (who lives in China and came to visit around the time we first started dating) how to sign the first couple of lines in "Baby Got Back" song and her sister kept signing "I like...

    Teaching Fiancee Sign?

Well, I may be coming to you for pointers when I get married if that's okay! The fact I am deaf and she's hearing doesn't bother either of us anymore though it bothered her for a while. Medium ground is definitely what we're looking for!

    Question - Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing?

Makes sense. I'm taking classes online for my four-year BS in Legal Studies through a local college and so far the communication appears to be better because I don't have to worry about missing out on something. I eventually hope to receive my Master's of Paralegal Studies. I think the local...

    Teaching Fiancee Sign?

She bought me "Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye" for my birthday and she loves it! She understood a lot more after watching it. She also bought me "Through Deaf Eyes" for my birthday and that opened up a lot more communication. She's doing her hardest and I'm being as patient as I can, but it's her...

    Question - Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing?

That's the way it is with me. I'm deaf but not culturally Deaf. Makes sense. How does one immerse themselves in Deaf Culture? Especially one that is developing his/her deaf identity at a later age?

    Teaching Fiancee Sign?

We usually use PSE since she has a hard time understanding ASL because I don't mouth the words when I sign ASL and sometimes she has trouble with the conceptualization of ASL. I'm learning ASL myself and I'm fairly good at it although I would like to learn more about the linguistics and grammar...

    Question - Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing?

Shel90, what would you say is the difference between identifying one's self as HoH or Deaf? What is the difference between the two anyways? I guess that's where things get confusing for me since I know very little about the differences.

    Teaching Fiancee Sign?

I am marrying a woman I met in Church who has become my best friend over the past 8 months that we've been dating (I broke up with her for about two months and regret it) and proposed to her in December and getting married in April. I've set my mind that regardless I am marrying her, but she's...

    Question - Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing?

Since I grew up mainstreamed and oralized with very little Deaf influence, I have always wondered something. Yes, I can hear on the phone, talk, read lips, listen to music, etc. But that is only with the hearing aid and even then the amount I comprehend is not always constant depending on air...

How do you sign "rock & roll"?

My sign for rock and roll is the pointed index and pinky finger with fist as the smiley looks (can't figure out how to do that yet since I usually use the quick reply) with elbow bent and forearm pointed upward moving back and forth without the head-banging which for me would be the heavy metal...

    Sign "Amen" in Different Countries

Reba, this is very true. I was raised Pentecostal and learned signs from Baptists, Pentecostals, Non-Denominationals, Catholics, etc. When I became Latter-day Saint, *almost* an entirely different culture. The Church even has it's own sign language handbook. Plan on getting a copy soon.
