German parents sells baby for One Euro...

Wow cant believe they think its a joke? Well to me it is not! jeez.

I saw this on CNN today. Unbelievable. But then, if you think about it, it would be a good argument for the anti-abortion crowd. Don't abort your baby....sell it!

I saw that too on TV news.
I was shocked.

Sell it? How about give up for adoption?. But it's not easy.

Ever seen movie with Holly Hunter, "Roe VS Wade" (Correct me if I'm wrong).

t was sarcasm.

The article states that the child's mother posted it as a joke but really, even if it is a joke, it still shouldn't have been there in the first place to begin with.

Yes I saw the news yesterday. *shake my head quietly*. What they did sound innocent stupidity to me... Jokes? that´s bad taste and lack of common sense.

German Couple Offer Baby for Sale on the Internet

German Couple Offer Baby for Sale on the Internet

Authorities in Germany placed a seven-month-old baby in care after their parents offered to sell it on the Internet auction site eBay for one euro ($1.55), police said.

Internet users alerted police who called at the couple's home in the Bavarian district of Unterallgaeu, on Friday, May 23, where the child's 23-year-old mother claimed the idea was just a prank.

But police thought differently and launched a criminal investigation into the couple on suspicion of trading in children.

Local authorities were looking after the baby, which police said was in good health.

"Too loud"

"Offer my nearly new baby for sale, because it's gotten too loud for me. It is a male baby, a good 70 cm tall. It can be used in a sling or a pram," read the ad, which included a picture of the child on Tuesday.

EBay deleted the offer two and a half hours after it went online. No bids had been made on the baby by then.

The mother will undergo a psychological appraisal, according to mass-circulation newspaper Bild before a decision is made as to whether she may have her child back.

Obviously a sick and stupid joke, which should not have been done.

But people also have to consider that it IS a joke.
However, I do think the psychological appraisal is in order, but I find it highly improbable that one person would be dumb enough to actually attempt to sell a baby for 1 Euro on ebay (where everyone can see it) and actually connect with another person who would be even -stupider- to try an buy the baby for 1 Euro in spite of scores of people and the company knowing about it... so yes, it is a really sick joke.

Wow, that's pretty bad joke to sell a baby for 1 euro on ebay.

if this happened in a movie, i'd laugh my ass off. since it happened in real life, i still think it's hilarious, but maybe only 90% as funny.

the thread is a lie. the baby wasn't sold. the article even says,
"No bids had been made"

but even if they did plan on selling it, it doesn't say whether the one euro was the lowest acceptable bid or a "buy it now" price. they might have even had a 50,000 euro reserve for all we know.

in any case, i don't believe they had any intention of selling the baby. the worst thing they did was fail to think ahead of their little joke. it would be totally harmless if it were someone like me, who doesn't have any children, but now they might lose their kid. oops.

I do agree with you regarding what the couple claims to have intentioned.

I'm wondering why a bunch of people went nuts like this? Does someone have too much time?
