Kentucky latest state to prohibit alcohol vaporizers - MSNBC Wire Services - MSNBC.com

I hadn't heard about the alcohol vaporizer until I read this article. The alcohol vaporizer is a new thing to me. So I took the liberty to google up to see what an alcohol vaporizer looks like. I also did a little of researching why there is a point for an alcohol vaporizer to use.

To use an alcohol vaporizer, You'd need to have a small amount of alcohol to put in the vaporizer and inhale it. While you can say that alcohol absorbs quickly through the lining of the lungs, it already absorbs damn quick through the stomach. However, there are limits as to how much alcohol you can dissolve in a lungful of air and thus it takes like 15 min to breathe the alcohol of a single shot.

It will not work with the regular vaporizers/humidifiers that you normally buy from Wal-Mart or any other general stores because a warm air humidifier simply heats the water until it's vapor. A cool air humidifier usually wicks moisture through a filter, then fans it through the filter.

There is no factual evidence that alcohol vaporizer is dangerous but however, if you were to consume it, it would also be as bad as drinking the real stuff. Why would vaporizer be banned when we still can drink the alcohol? Two wrongs doesn't make one right.

Well I don't see it as any difference compare to drinking the alcohol, so I don't see any point to ban it?
 
That's weird, I never heard of a such thing! Either drinking or breathing it, I still won't do it. :-P I'm not a alcholic person.
 
I guess it's just another "stupid law" when they don't really realize what the REAL problem is.

You're right. Ban something they can breathe, then they can still drink.

According to the article, it seems that it's easier to get drunk on vaporizers. Imagine... you have to consume a lot of alcohol just to get drunk. However, you only have to breathe less alcohol to get drunk... plus, no hangover.

I guess they're worried about how easy it is to put yourself at risk. But then again, banning it will only make people want to do it more.
 
Well, let me try to give a different perspective. Last year, some kids were caught at prom intoxicated. They had taken the alcohol through an enema. It was absorbed into their system quicker than by drinking it, and doesn't show on a breathalyzer test. So, IMO, things like this are just a way for people to consume the alcohol without being caught drinking.

Yeah... even if we take away one thing, they will still find ways to do it differently.

If we take away vaporizers, then they might resort to alcohol injections... :Ohno:

Alcohol Injections? :eek: I hope it won't ever have to come down to this.
 
Interesting, I never heard of Alcohol Vaporizers.

Maybe someone will invent some kind of breath testing vaporizers that detects the smallest amounts of alcohol even you can't smell the alcohol breath on person.

Alcohol injections? :-o That would be crazy.

Indeed, When one gets drunk, anything is possible but still, I think alcohol injection would be too drastic because it all comes with the dangers of using the needle in an unsanitary environment.

This is new to me I never heard of. How deadly and do they have evidence of death related? I never tend kind of that!

Unless... it was a group of doctors at a party? They would know what to do.

There are IV drips... just inject a bottle of bourbon. ;)
 
Alcohol by injection is not a new thing. I've heard about it a long time ago and was surprised to find, recently, a few websites detailing how to do it. (Vodka seems to be the norm.) I don't like needles . . . maybe that's why vaporizers are gaining popularity.

I thought it funny when these statements were made (in the MSNBC article):

"We do not have one brain cell to waste in the state of Kentucky when it relates to our young people," Westrom said.

(this is said by the president of the Kentucky's Distillers' Association. A quick look at other states banning, the article often starts with "before AWOL hits the market . . .")

Green said some legislatures instituted the bans after realizing that their laws against underage "drinking" didn't necessarily address "inhaling" alcohol.

(Kentucky did not ban AWOL for underage folks; banned it completely.)


They used children/young people to create a law over adults. You've got to think of the children!
