Any Uniphone (1140) users?

We use Uniphone 1140 (VCO, TTY, HCO - all in one); and we are looking for a SMALL (Mini - not big, bulky ones) Dot Matrix Printer (Centronix type, with roll paper) to be hooked up with it (via TTY) since we already have the Cable Printer.

We were told to find them at OfficeMax, Office Depot, and other office supply stores, etc., which we did - most of them don't have ANY at all, and one of those stores has only one - ONE bulky printer! We're a bit disappointed, especially with the fact that such as Harris Communications, United TTY, etc. do not offer them anymore. I know that a few of these companies do offer some kind of printers (such as VCO printer), but none are compatible with Uniphone 1140. :ugh:

So, any feedback would be greatly appreciated! :)
 
Urgent Help needed with my uniphone 1140

I own a uniphone 1140.

I need some help. When I plug the Adapter mains power plug the red "on" does not come on.
When put a 9v battery the on screen message says " no power ".

what could be wrong with it?

I can't phone anyone as my uniphone is not working. Could someone please help me by contact the repair department at ultratec. I live alone and have no-one to help me.

any comments or suggestions welcome.

I have two Uniphones at home. I think your TTY's fried.

do your Uniphones work?

Can you try the following on your uniphone for me please.

1. Disconnect the main power supply.

2.Put a 9v battery in your uniphone in the compartment at the bottom of the phone.

3.The power light should be on.

4.Press the TTY On/Off button.

5.Do you get the message "Telephone Reset" for two seconds and then the Message "no power".
 
Wait a minute -- is your battery already inside in the compartment, if the main power supply is plugged on, no?
 
when the 9v battery is not in the compartment. the power light does not come on.

When the 9v battery alone (no mains power supply) is in the compartment then the power light comes on.

Did you try and leave the battery in the compartment and plug with the main supply, would it work along with the phone line plugged in as well?
 
Do you leave the 9v battery in and plug in the power adapter?

In other both in and on?

my 9v battery is dead now I don't have a spare. the local shop is closed.

I will try tomorrow and let you know.

Please stay in touch with me tomorrow on this forum. I really need your help. you are the only other uniphone user I know so far.

It definitely won't explode. My uniphone is plugged in with the battery included, and it is working just fine. My superprint 4425 at work has batteries included and the power are plugged as well. The batteries were only for the light flashing support and emegerncy cut offs.

Just try and see if everything is working fine and no, you don't need to purchase a new one, unless the uniphone explodes for sure.

I wanted to do the same thing.

How are you going to connect the printer to the phone so you can print conversations?

My uniphone has a printer port that is round like a headphones jack.

Please help any advice appreciated.

Have you contacted UltraTec (manufacturer) directly and asked them for suggested printers ?? they are usually VERY helpful
